Radio in a 97 catera cuts out when to loud it has an aftermarket hu..Please help love music. ::)

If you are running an aftermarket stereo, have you uprated the speakers to cope with the extra power ?
If not, thats your problem, as your speakers are shorting out, and your head unit will blow at any moment if you continue to use them at this volume.

yea so i havent upgraded my speakers yet so ill do that thanks.

Does the Catera have Bose fitted? If so then the Bose speakers (which are only 2 ohm) will impose a high load on your new HU causing it to shut down.
The cure, put the original HU back or turn the volume down or replace the speakers.

r1 was cracking a joke, we find time for humour like that when we aren't avoiding being shot at by our so called allies ;)

I changed the original hu because it was cutting off
To so I thought that was the problem. But it still cuts off with
The aftermarket one to. So does that mean it's the speakers. 8-)

@ Martian I didnt understand what r1 was talking
About but he been here longer than me. :o

You may find that the aftermarket head unit has blown the original speakers as it was far too powerfull for them, and they may now be permanently damaged.
Replace them all, put your aftermarket head unit back in, and if the fault persists, then start with the fault finding.
P.S. Everybody on here has a lot of humour at times, and will often make jokes, please make sure you also join in with us
