Title: Vx Bulbs
Post by: Osprey on 09 June 2011, 17:26:23
I’ve been getting occasional brake light and side/tail light warnings for months now and been unable to find any fault.  Even replaced the bulbs with proper E marked ones from Halfrauds.  Somebody on here suggested Vx bulbs from the stealer but I dismissed this as tosh – same wattage on the same supply can’t have a different resistance.

Well I’m here to tell you it isn’t tosh at all.  I replaced my stop/tails with the genuine article from Vx at a grand outlay of £1.73 for both and haven’t had any problem for over two weeks.

Just don’t ask me why!

Halfrauds bulbs are krap - well known to cause probs with warnings on Omegas.

Vx bit pricey - try Ring bulbs - worked ok for me and cheaper :y

Just as an aside... You are aware that there are 4 tail light bulbs on the Omega saloon aren't you?

I have heard that rumour but I’ve never been able to find any evidence of it on mine.  On the wings are indicator and stop/tail, on the boot lid are fog and reverse (both single sockets).

So I'm clearly missing the obvious here.  Where are the other two tail bulbs?

On the wing.... Outer is stop/tail, next to it is tail ;)

OK, revealing the depths of my ignorance here  :)

View from inside the boot with the bulb holder removed - just two holes, indicator above and stop/tail below:

... and the bulb holder, again just two bulbs:

So where is the other tail?

Ooh... Perhaps they changed to single bulbs for the facelift then  ::)

Thanks chaps - I hope Vx passed on the 27p saving in manufacturing costs.   ;)
