Hi
Ive fitted a towbar to my 2002 CD but bit stuck on the electrics. What i need to know is do i need special wiring kit or can i connect old school by using scotch locks to the light wiring

You can get away without a vehicle specific loom, but please don't use Scotchlocks, you'll just get connection problems at some time in the future.
There's loads of info around & about on the site re colours of wires etc

No. But if you want to extend the brake light check to your trailer/caravan, you fit a 'trailer check control' relay up front behind your glove box & use the yellow/black wire in the dedicated socket in the boot behind the trim at the back of the boot.
I'll have a trawl through he forum & see if I can find the part number for you. :y

not bothered about the light check, just don't want it flashing up everytime i break

Cheers again Andy. So ive come to the conclusion i will connect the electrics straight into the rear lights and bridge the yellow/black wire on the relay and everything will work as it should and no light check flashing up

If you connect directly to the lights, you won't need to bridge the relay base, you only need the bridging wire if you use the yellow/black wire at the dedicated socket.

and it's not even quite plug & play - or at least the 13 pin socket loom isn't. ;)

Sounds like a rip off to me then. Going to wire up the "normal" way tomorrow. Thank you for your help.
As am in France the Local Opel/Vaux dealer said they wouldn't be able to get one in stock for 3 weeks anyway. I wonder if its cheaper in the UK but what i can remember the Dealer in Chichester was about 15% dearer.

It is for the "road lights" side of things ... it's the "extras" that are a sod to sort, although once done it does work well :)
I guess that when they designed the looms back in the distant past they never expected us to want a decent high current feed for the fridge/battery charging or an unswitched 12v for comforts sake .. :)

there is a special connector just above the spare wheel - a neat place to run all the wires too, even if you don't use the 'proper' plug-in loom.
Never, ever use scotch-locs for aything. They're tantamount to spilling a tin of etrol in the boot and a cuple of flares (lit !)

It is/was in a Senator (and presumably in a Carlton), but in an Omega B it's where I said, behind the trim at the back of the boot. ;) ;)

Thanks for the offer but am coming back to visit the in-laws on that date for 2 days for my sins. :-/ On your way down if you see a white Omega with blacked out rear windows and a glum looking driver,give us a wave. Should stick out like a sore thumb a only seen a hand full of Omega's down here and two of them were mine. :y

We should have to have a international Omega meet sometime. I have a 5 acre field which am in the process of turning it to a campsite.
