Title: Lost Radio Code
Post by: cricketcat on 03 July 2011, 14:57:47
Hi,

I have just bought a P reg Omega 2.5 V6 CD and the dealer did not have the code for the CDR 500 Radio/CD fitted.  Does anyone know if I can get the code from Vauxhall and if so who to contact?

If you can be sure the radio was fitted at the factory then the code would be on the car's original 'Car pass' which also includes other codes for the immobiliser etc. Vauxhall dealers will charge  you from about £20 for it, but some charge somewhat more, you'll need the V5 & some form of ID.
Of course you could also contact DaveDND here ..... he does this for a living.  ;)

As Andy B mentioned, unless you can be sure it's the original unit fitted when the car was built, Vx won't have the correct code.
Again, DaveDND is a sound bloke who is very helpful!  :y

I agree have been in contact with DAVEDND on here when i needed help and he is a top bloke, i would be very wary about gm dealer as at that age may not be the orig stereo and that means £25 down the tube.

  :'( :'(

I have had a look on e-bay and I can get a identical replacement unir - complete with codes for just over £15 - might be an easier way to as they just slot in.

Provided it's got the correct code with it, or you are back to square one.....

Also, if you get the 'car pass' from VX, even if the codes on it are not the ones for the radio, at least you will have the immobiliser Number, & key number for future reference, so not entirely wasted...
My local VX dealer got me a replacement in 24 hours.... (paper printout)  and the proper card arrived to my home address 3 days later.. so may still be worth having .  :)

Which make of CDR500 do you have ?

If DELCO, then let me have the 14 digit number engraved on the side, as I have just started doing these one via the net.

Good Point about the other codes - will get the card from vauxhall and if it turns out not to be the original unit will take you up on your offer - thanx to everyone for all the help
