Title: black box question

Stripping car down ready for a new slam panel, when i found a black box behind the drivers side wing. It lives in a plastic tray screwed to the inner wing, and is above the self levelling pump.  :-/

What does it do? :-/

p.s. I know its not the carbon canister. That sits behind the wheel. ::)
