then i wased her again.
then i clay barred her, god that was hard work! the roof is not as good as i wanted it to be cos i am too small and cloudnt reach properly. then i waxed her, wow that was easier then clay baring her. she feals as soft as a babys bum now.

Dont know whether you can see it down the paint work both sides But i dont seam to be able to t cut the scratches out, Any ideas as to how i can get them out. the other question is......
Whats the best way to treat the rust spots, i have noticed a few new spots, like in the edge of the drivers door where the window meats the panel, its under the seal, the corners of the front doors, the leading edge of the bonnet and there are a few small ones on the inside of the doors.
-
Well done, good work, looks nice,
If you're serious about stopping the rust, and intend to keep the car running for another 5 or 10 years, you will have to remove the door hardware, and next remove the door panels, and work from the inside out. Water accumulates inside the doors, and when you can see rust on the outside, there is always going to be rust on the inside, as well.
Love the photo´s

Looks good! What clay bar you using? In my expirience claying is a hell of a lot easier than waxing, I can't believe I'm gonna say this but, you need to use more lube! ;)
-
My little man shane kept appearing telling me that i had missed a spot ;D ;D
then he brought me a cupa, bless then he wanted to be in the photos and take the credit for cleaning the car.
He said it looks beautyfull!!! shortly after i told him to get his dirty little mits of my motor!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Good work.. :y
forget about the neighbours ;)
for cleaning scratches..
if the scratched area have original paint or newly painted
examine the scratch if its less than 1/3 mm deep..You have a chance..
otherwise you wil go down to color paint layer and after will you need
a respray what means trouble..
first use 1500 grid sandpaper on the scratch vertical to the scratch
direction with enough water (before keep a small sandpaper in water
for few minutes to be soft enough)
than use it in the same direction just for half a minute not more..
then cut small portion is enough like in the pic.
after you need G3 or similiar (most small grained paste)
and a machine like this with variable speeds..
before using the paste apply small amounts of water on the sponge..
when the area is enough shiny use much fine grained sponge head with color polish..

Colour code is either on the vin plate or on the B pillar by the drivers door catch.
If I still had the touch up pen (also comes with a clear coat pen as well) i'd have sent it to you. ::)
I've managed to hide some minor scratches on previous cars with 'colour magic' polish' :y

We had our Omega for our first wedding aniversary, pride and joy, within 1 month the kids in the street lost balance on a bike and scratched the rear quarter >:(... I went nutso.. they promised to pay, all fair and square.... I decided not to make them pay in the end as the mum would have taken the £70+ out of the kids at the price of a beating!!!! :'(
Pissed off about the car, Happy with myself for preventing child abuse :) :)

g3 only takes the scratches but not a perfect polish..You need to use cream style polishes to get a very clean and shiny surface ..
maquires is not sold here so dont have idea about that..

i have never used it until today, its great i was dreadin taking it of but it came off a dream. i will be getting the complete range of products i thinks!!!

You fellers are quite right in what you say....
Marie, if you're not happy enough with the shine it's because you missed out one stage in the process, it goes....
Wash/Dry -----> Clay ----> Polish ----> Wax
You kind of missed the 'polish' bit which cuts away the microscopic layer of oxidisation on the paint which can dull the finish.
Don't wanna teach granny the obvious but if you're still not happy it's worth thinking about. Personally I think it looks nice :) And you're right, the polish/wax always goes on and off better after claying :y
....prepares himself for a slap ::) :-*

i wont slap you .......what polish would you recommend for next time.

oh ok i think what i did today is enough.......
-
if you plan for serious polishing you need a machine..
Trust me its worth that investment as you can use it everytime..
And the work times become 1/20 - 1/30 compared to hand..

Hand polishing is possible but as cem says you may need to enlist the help of little guy shane or risk ending up with biceps like Hulk Hogan 8-)
There are good mail order products available from that forum such as 'menzerna' & 'chemical guys' polishes. Just check out some of the beauties in the gallery :o

Does anyone have a simple guide to the highlighted steps?
i.e. For each stage:
- Purpose
- Best products
- Best tools / cloths
- Method of application (Hand action / tool to use)
- Things to watch for (weather, make sure it is dry etc.)
Cheers

its a peace of clay that you rub over the car with the lub suppiled to remove all the film off the paint. if you feel your paint work it feels ruff. claying removes the ruffness and makes it feel like glass, makes it easy to ploish and wax the car. i was recommended off here to do it and ill never look back its great.
i would use the maguires cleaning products. i have just started to use them and they are 100% better then the products i was using before and so easy to work with. :)

Yeah, I've got that site loaded, but it is so detailed and all over the place like a box of frogs; it would take me weeks to find a definitive process, and even then I would still be wondering if I had the right advice from all that which is available.
I'm looking for a nice simple 4 step step-by-step guide.
I likewise had never heard of claying and saw the 4 steps outlined and wanted someone to explain that process too. Also what's the difference between "polishing" and just rubbing the wax off after waxing?
It seems to me that some people have more of an idea than others and their direct advice would be extremely valuable. :y

polishing is done between claying and waxing. the step that i missed
polishing is a lang hard job from what i have been told. still going to giv it a go some time. at present i think claying and waxing surfice enough took me a good 4/5hrs from start to finish. long enough.
waxing is a completely sparate step the last thing that should be done and not under sunlight or on hot paint work.
-
Sorry waxing you apply the wax let it dry and then with a lint free cloth wipe it off. the stuff i was using was easy to use way easier then i thought it was going to be. ;D
-
Cheers Marie,
So step 1 is WASH
I understand wash :y
Step 2 is CLAY
I now, thanks to you, have a basic idea on what claying may be, but am not sure how to remove it after wards. :-/
Step 3 is POLISH
So what exactly do you have to do to "polish? :-?
Step 4 is WAX
I've done this a few times. :y
All I've ever done is Wash, DRY then WAX. I must admit, I've never got a car as shiny as some of those I've seen on here and would really love to know the missing detail. :-/

all you do is wipe off the detailer(lub) with a lint free cloth all the dirt sticks to the clay bar, and when the clay is dirty just need it so you have a clean peice.
you need to dry the car off before claying too.
as for polishing i have never done it before ether so i would do what i have and see how it comes out on your motor, and then look in to polishing further.

i wont slap you .......what polish would you recommend for next time.
