Title: TradeCentreAuctions...
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 24 February 2008, 19:26:38
... appear to have changed their name again

link deleted...

I like the look of this car, but it's going for more than I'd want to pay for a "spares/repair" minifacelift. Also I seem to remember there are mixed opinions re. seller reputation?

Beware, this page takes you to a log in page which is not secure. I think it's a Phishing page, looking for people to enter log in details and passwords.

DO NOT LOG IN VIA THE PAGE THIS LISTING SENDS YOU TO!!!!!

Be careful my account guard has just told me that's it's a potential spoof site.
Don't enter any details into it.

Yes, they are the same people - same photo setups and same spelling errors in the listings!  I think that they did not have a great reputation if I recall correctly.  Can't remember why though.  This is about the third time they have changed their name.  Why keep changing it?

I was browsing the other day for elites on e-bay - as I do quite regularly and saw a listing by these people which, when viewing it, wanted me to log into e-bay again when I was already logged in.

As Golfbuddy says, I would be very cautious indeed.

Yes, close the account, close your PayPal account if you use the same log on and password.

Do it straight away.  :y

Yes Marie. Ad account guard to your browser, it's a free download from your My Ebay page.
It's warned me a few times in the past about phising sites.
It's very good :y

Changing password is good - is it a complex one?  i.e. over 6 characters, not a name, Capital and a special character (!@£%) etc.

I think that you can also notify e-bay of such things as well.

Hope this helps

my passwords are not real words, some of them are just 8 random letters i made into a word.

more secure ones are like x25xe said, they contain "£!$%^& and a combination of lower case and upper case

crikey... what is strange, is that I went to the ebay home page, and the address clearly has "ebay.co.uk" in it, so it can't be a phishing link  :-/

I actually clicked on a ebay listing that was a phising site a few months ago. How they do it i don't know, but my account guard did it's job yet again.

Ok what's going on here...

I go to ebay.co.uk, and am definately on the EBAY site

I search for Omega Elite Estate, and I find this one.

I click on the link, and it takes me to the listing, again with "ebay.co.uk" in the address bar

after 10 seconds of the listing being on my screen, the page then redirects to "itemscgi dot com" << Don't click on this

My suspicion is that there is some code running on the listing perhaps that directs to a malicious site?

is this the listing that has its opening photo from a VX Carlton or Nova or something, which then showed an Elite that then redirected to ebay's log in page?

as per above advice, if you DID enter your details to that page, it indeed looks like it's somehow gone to a phishing site.. so change your ebay password NOW before someone else logs into your account....

Ps - sincere apologies - I posted a genuine ebay link in good faith - but some scum always has to take advantage of honest listings to decieve people into releasing information.

To re-iterate, change your ebay passwords now (on the genuine ebay site) if you entered details, please, it's v important.

its these guys that have the advert with the picture i mentioned in my previous post re. the old style VX wheel as the opening photo

the ad is now for a different omega and doesnt appear to be redirecting now, but the old wheel pic is still there before you click onto the advert

Yep, Stirling Cars was the first name that they used and as the other thread says, it was discussed at length during the Voxon days.  Even then, they were viewed poorly.

I saw that as the other day - the wheel in question is actually from a late Cavalier CDX.

Be aware Ebay has a long standing flaw - which they are aware of, but deny it being a problem - where you can have a genuine ebay.co.uk url for any site.

Thanx TB. They just want their/your money for as little as possible.
The amount of £££s going into that business every day, you'd think they'd get their act together  :(

Someone couldn't give me the URL/ItemNo could they? Purely out of professional interest as what is being described is technically not possible unless the scripting is in the header which you can't do by putting in a listing. As such I would love to see what is actually happening here....

Its an ebay function that allows it, not clever scripting...
