read in the telegraph yesterday that councils spend approx.£35million per year repairing potholes, and the amount they pay out per year in compensation for pothole damage is...............£65 million :o :o :o wtf is that about .
-
Just a guess on the figures but, I wouldn't be surprised if they spent the whole £100million on repairing potholes, they'd still have to spend another £65million on compensation claims for the ones they had missed. :-/

i went through one sooooo big last week in Glasgow city centre it put my interior light onand my tc button flashed on and off :-/
Im really surprised there was no lasting damage :o or i would be claiming....

But, that's the whole point. It's not a private company, who have to make a profit, it's a government department who have to justify their existence. The cost of repairing the potholes is nowhere near £35million, most of that cost is spent on bureaucracy. They don't care what it costs, after all they get their pay cheques every month and it's our money they're spending. :(

there was until recently a large pothole about a mile from where i live,it was there for about 2 years, outside the gate of the council roads repair depot,it was actually caused by their lorries turning into and out of the yard.they filled it in about a month ago so im curious to see how long it lasts.its bad enough hitting these things in the car but if you hit them on a bike they can be lethal >:(

It's speed ramps that really annoy me, grrrrrr! >:(

if they spent the money they use putting in speed ramps on filling in more potholes then they might not have to pay out so much in compo >:(
