Title: hole in gearbox..

ok i`ve got a problem something has punched a hole through the bell housing and made a hole twice the size of a 50p now there does not look like any damage to the clutch i can get all gears smoothly and the car pulls no different i`m just worried about the hole and what i should do next..2 questions i need answering are iz the 16v`s gearbox and housing the same as the 8v`s or can patch the hole with sumat i.e. weld a plate over to stop any water or debris from the road getting in??? any help in answering these questions would be great lads an lasses cheers..

Depending where it is.....I would be tempted to pop rivet a plate over it with some sealent around the edge to keep water out....
