Post by: Richie London on 25 February 2008, 12:15:36
had a bit of a result today, went to the dump and found a henry hoover in its box with all the attachments in it, but no cable, just put a new one on and it works like new, have people too much money or just bone idle.

I seem to drop on Dysons, but i did go the tip and someone had put one in the container, so i took it out and about to put it into the boot when this bloke says who works there, "what you doing with that mate?" "taking it back home whats it look like? my Mrs has asked me to throw it and I think its to good to chuck out!" "Well there was a Dyson just like that one in there around five minutes ago, and there are cameras up now, a guy got the sack from here the other week for takin stuff that had been scrapped, but anyway the police can come around to your house a do ya!"
"She was right it is a crap hoover!!" I replied and took it back again  ;D ;D ;D

Part of the 'Numatic' range of industrial cleaning equipment, plastic one sold for domestic use, I have an old metal Henry (NV250) and it gets used for all the crap jobs around the garage, cars etc. :)

......a guy got the sack from here the other week for takin stuff that had been scrapped, but anyway the police can come around to your house a do ya!"
.....
Raises some interesting legal thoughts does that: when you take stuff to the dump, at what point (if at all) do you surrender legal title to it?....at the gate?.....in the skip?....or back at th house when you decided to take it to the dump.  ::)

Further; Does the Council assume legal title of dumped items?...`surely unlikely without a contract....or perhaps do the dumped items exist in a state of 'eminent domain' (where nobody legally owns them) if so, how can you be 'persecuted' for reclaiming/removing them?  ::)

I know, it`s late...`just thinking out loud really  ;)

Don't know all the ins and outs but our tips have people who keep it right and monitor the tipers, I believe they pay the Council for the privilege and keep the scrap. I have seen them in the skips checking through black bags in the general tip.
I put a new looking but broken 'booster pack' on the floor next to a skip, turned round to get some other stuff out of the car and it was gone.
Seem to spend half my weekends at the tip for one reason and anogher. :D :D :D

Our tip is rather useless.......they hardly accept anything.

No paint tins
No old car parts (not even brake discs)
No soil

And they are like little hittlers and then wonder why they get abuse.

Good cleaners, Henries. We had one in our halls of residence at university. Anything which ended up on the floor and shouldn't have been there... and all sorts of things end up on the floor in a halls of residence..  :o it cleaned up without a murmur.

.. so what is the likelihood of my local dump taking a Granada Cosworth rear subframe?  :-/

Not that good; but if you take a bag of scrap copper pipe/fittings there, the jobsworth`s at the dump will be all over you like a rash!  ;D

Oh yes, I went through a time when I was often getting Job offers from other companies, many were from suppliers to Andrews. I was in Sales at the time but came from a Srvice background and with professional Cleaning experience cos of family business.
Point being, not only could I sell the product I could fix it knew how to get the best from it, not many reps could do that for real.
That was all a long time ago now. Doing something totally different now. :D :D :D

Perhaps they were owned by Sony ie they were from either Bridgend or the UK HQ, as in Sony bought them to clean their carpets??

Time for another Lisa Rogers thread to redress the balance I think.
