Title: CAR PASS
Post by: LFF64 on 27 February 2008, 18:55:19
I have ordered a car pass for my car today they are charging £25 +vat Which ends up just under £30
I asked how much the key section would cost £44 approx  :'( thats just the key section not the remote either .
Is there a cheaper option and does the key need to be programmed to the car I know the remote does hence the need for the car pass

its the fob that gets programmed to the car, the blade should go on your existing fob

you can usually get a full blank key off ebay cheap, or as said, local locksmiths

I have spare remote sections  ;) I think looking through some bits of paper  I have I already had these numbers but I was not sure what they were they are not on a pass just a receipt for some work it had done  ::) oh well got it now well the fax the card is to follow in about a week apparently . silly question time now is it possible to have the key cut anywhere it is the blade type rather than what I would call a normal key shape  :P

I have some blank keys with transponders, but they are the sort that take the integrated remotes (as opposed to the seperate 'plips' type). Not got any decent remotes though.

Its a case of programming the transponder to your car, the remote locking part to your car, then you go down local key cutter.  Some key cutters are really shitty about doing it if they don't supply the blank, but there are plenty to choose from ;)

I'll need immobiliser pin to program it.

I think I'm around at weekend doing nothing (supposed to be changing discs/pads on tractor, but got back, leg, and knee hassles, so no car work for me this weekend - she's laid down the law  :-?) so can easily do some keys :)
