Post by: ians on 03 March 2008, 16:56:51
.. until you get to the pic of the engine bay

I'm wondering if its a flood victim .   Bodywork/interior looks clean though.

it annoys me that nearly all the late late model high spec omegas are either priced ludicrously by Budden wanabees or fall into the hands of cowboys like this on ebay.

Hi
Are you looking at what looks like water marks on the airbox and trunking under the bonnet ? Because it looks more like the original wax coating peeling off to me.
If I have missed something please feel free to roast me.

Mike

for the sake of half an hour, or less if he had not taken the underbonnet pic, he could have presented the can soooooo much better.

looking at the other pics it does look like the area has a lot of tree which would support the crud on the scuttle.

some gunk, hot water and a bit of time would have that looking neat, but 2k as a starting bid with that mileage.....nah, it aint gonna happen.

people see the Roger Budden cars and then prices accordingly, they forget a number of things.
1) his cars are generally mint
2) they come with warranty
3) He has an excellent reputation and so you can buy with peace of mind.

once an omega gets to a certain mileage (replacement engine or not) the value plummets, his, i would say, is past it.

When any car is advertised with a new engine @ whatever mileage i wonder why. In the rare case an engine packs up @ 50k, it can happen but is usually due to neglect which will reflect on the rest of the car. Also new engine @ 50k but even if it's a NEW engine which i doubt the rest of the car has still covered the higher mileage figure so will still drive/feel need repairing accordingly.
I'd keep my wallet closed, there's better out there. Rather buy someones pride & joy than someones mess. ::)
