Title: 3.0 V6 ABS TC ECU Recon / Replacement
Post by: DaveBrunel on 26 September 2011, 15:16:39
Hi Guys

My ABS TC ECU needs replacing as the previously intermittent problem has now become permanent, and I'm developing arms like a gorilla from driving around town with limited power steering.

I'm happy to tackle the job myself, but can anyone advise the best place to get my unit reconditioned, or alternatively the best place to get a s/h unit, or if anybody has one?

V reg, V6 Elite, Auto, 17" wheel.

Thanks

Recon units can be done by return post by a couple of places.

ECU testing in Nottingham

BBA REman in Kent(?)

Cost is around 135 pounds inc VAT and then you have postage or dropping off collection to factor in. Takes a few days to repair.

I have changed three over the 11 years I owned my previous Omega. Each time using S/H. The last one lasted a month before giving up too. I shelled out on having mine done by ECU testing but then scrapped the car before fitting it. You could have that for 99 pounds including signed for post. Still got approx 18 months of the guarantee left on it It was off a 98 model auto 2.5 Elite. I never had any issues with needing reprogramming by Tech 2 using S/H ones but some people say you can have problems. maybe if the donor car doesn't have cruise or variable steering. ?

Thanks for the offer, but judging from most of the other threads found on this subject, I need one from same year, same model.

You can say how long a secondhand part is going to last, only that it was working well on the car it was removed from. Perhaps a recon one is the way forward. Like said 2.5 & 3.0 are interchangeable with the help of a Tech2..

Appreciated the Help in this Post, but the sales pitch part could do with going in the For Sale Section or PM though ..;)
