Title: TMC on display
Post by: Radar on 29 September 2011, 21:58:36
Was playing a cd and noticed in the bottom right hand corner of the display screen TMC. I thought is this to do with traffic (like the TP) button? or am i off the mark. Stereo is 4 cd changer ccr 2006 - no sat nav/ no colour screen :'(

TMC is a version of traffic information, but it's not available in the UK unfortunately. IIRC there is something about it in the owners audio manual.  :y

Actually TMC is available in the UK, just the Omega isn't actually comparable iirc.

Works on Saabs, and some newer vauxhalls >:(

Compatible! Anyway, as you say, it is rather annoying! Hence the reason a couple of us really want to get a CD70 fitted and working ;) Although that's not as simple as it sounds :(

And it doesn't even sound simple!  :P

I'm waiting with eager anticipation to see if you can get it all working!  :y

On another subject... any chance you could install a certain diagnostics s/w on my laptop for me at some point?  :D

What's even more annoying is it works perfectly well in Europe.  >:(

I guess vx knew the omega was dead in the water and didn't bother to license it.  :-\

Anyway, tmc on omega in uk, will never work on a stock head unit. There is no software ever made that knows how to display the info. It can't decode it, not the way it's  broadcast in the uk.

Which is a shame as it's really handy to have afaict.

Thanks guys :y

Didn't we diagnose a slightly dicky connector somewhere between head unit and MID on your car? Just wondering if it's playing up and a glitch caused that indicator to light up - there's no other reason a CCR2006 would use it, as it has no nav capability.

Thats right Kevin, the display does not always come on for the stereo (if you press the top right hand side of the unit then it works again). I have to say that it has been working a bit better than previously (now 60%). I forgot all about that as i could've asked someone to resit the stereo at the oxford meet.
