Picked up the new van today :y
Just over 3 hours up the road to deliver it for equipment fitting some halfwit in a BMW drives into the back of it on the A1 >:( >:( >:( I couldn't believe it! :'(
Fortunately it was very low speed (sub 5 mph) and there is no damage at all :y Not even a mark on the bumper :y
But even so... >:( >:( >:(
-
Unbelievable. >:( Glad it hasn't been damaged. Does make you wonder if it's worth driving anything decent or new these days, with the amount of respect it gets from the other breakwits on the road. :(

Not quite the word I'd use to describe him >:( ::) ;D
As it happens all is ok but my heart dropped when I realised what had happened ::) TBH, it was that gentle I actually thought I'd forgotten to put my foot on the clutch and stalled it :-X

When i bought my very first Elite, i got home from Telford in it about 10pm, went out at 11pm to go late night shopping at Tesco, and hit a Deer doing about
70 60 on a back road...
£2050 repair bill.... bonnet, front valance, bumper, grille , HID light, Radiator, etc etc.... (killed the fairly big deer as well.... to heavy for me to lift on my own... )
Direct line, coughed up for the repair though.... which was a relief.... had it back in 7 days.

Unfortunately it fared better than it should have, just gaining a couple of light scratches on the bumper ::) Although, TBF, I didn't really look at it much ::)

I had a brand new Manta in 1985 - drove it down to my folks a couple of days later and an old git hit it at a motorway service area. >:(
-
I had a brand new company Astra at one point...
Accidents at 3, 7, and 10 days old....
The annoying part is I wanted a Green one, swmbo said no, they are unlucky...So I got a red one.....wish I hadnt ;)
-
Its the complete lack of concentration from many drivers on the road today that is the reason to needed the van in the first place.
I was in Asda the other day, giving the MV6 a splash and dash, and was watching the woman in front standing there filling her car, but too busy smiling and making faces at the little brat on the back seat. Even from where I was, I could read 'UNLEADED ONLY' on the inside of the fuel flap, yet the dozy bint had managed to force a black nozzle in. I did think about telling her, but though, sod it, let her get an even bigger bill - stupid people should not be rewarded.

The only brand new car (albeit lease) that Mrs TB ever had - a Ford Focus piece of shite - I'd had to droop off at the bodyshop before she had even driven it ::)

It's a lot easier putting unleaded in a diesel ................ apparently! ::) ::) ::)
-
years ago, had a Daimler XJ6. Bought on the Saturday and went to work on Monday. Parked on a side street in Leicester. Got back in the evening to find a transit van had driven down the drivers side damaging all four panels. I couldn't even open the drivers door. Note on windscreen from a jogger who had the sense to write down the reg of hit and run van. Fixed on insurance fortunately. :y

I'm so disappointed with gayboy's response, I had the popcorn ready for a good ranting session....

my mate bought a capri at 1300hrs and wrapped it round a tree at 1305!
road was wet sharp bend and backwards into the tree!
he had phoned the insurance up at about 1230 to arange cover then had to phone them back a hour later to claim, the car was a write off
i know this as i had taken him round to collect it and was behind him when it happened

I can confirm that nobody was hurt in the incident.

Not perhaps the best thing to do though banging the other drive, although it does make you feel that way ???
-
Perhaps all send Chris some parts down to sort his car? ;)

I dunno... The prat that ran into the back of me nearly got it ::)
Like you say... Doesn't solve anything though

I was not going to offer him any free t cut, more along the lines of anything he may need, if I have it he could have :y

LMFAO :y :y

Glad to hear Mr & Mrs G are ok, but I do feel for him as I know how much he wanted that black one :( :( lets hope its repairable

Ah thanks for kind comments offers and concerns. Just me in the car, not too big a shunt, low speed. Although a hell of a wack from the side.
Large Two lane round about with road works on, RR to the right if me knocked me into the kerb between 1st and second exit. We both entered the round about and intended, apparently, to both take same exit(second)... trouble is she, the driver, thinks I entered from first exit and drive into the side if her. I was sat right next to her waiting to enter the round about. Although I am sure I saw blokes hands on the steering wheel.
It's not looking good. A male witness appeared from nowhere, some 50 yards up the road. Claimed immediately to have never met the Laidy and it was all my fault. Wtf? Suspicious IMO. Local plod checked CCTV in the high St which revealed nothing. Cameras pointing the wrong way.
Damage to drivers door, wing, mirror head light, wheel and tyre from impact.
Damage to pas side tyre and wheel which is pointing inboard and tucked under. Steering wheel is pointing at 3 o'clock.
Dont know how these things work re value, insurance know about sports stars and gas conversion. Not sure how much I valued the car at or how much the book price is or how they work it out. But I rekon there's enough damage there to write it off.
Although easily fixed with second hand body panels and cosmetic stuff. So I may have to buy the wreck back and do it myself. No idea how that works.
Car will be delivered to approved repairer on Monday.
Sorry to leave you in suspense, we had visitors. But thanks for concerns and thoughts. Much appreciated.
-
the only thing that does not suck about that , is that you guys are okay.
rather tinkers.....
-
Well, if I told you mine may well be a right off due to a range rover driver shunting me Into the kerb....
Both of you on the same day, bad news, at least no one is hurt....... :y :y :y
-
Yep it's just a car. And nobody hurt. Although I never felt so sick over an object as when the repairer suggested it may be a write off.
Fingers crossed for Monday though.

Tough luck Chris, glad you are ok though, end of the day car can be fixed/replaced,flesh and bones sometimes can't :(
-
As long as none of the pillars or sills are damaged, sounds like it can be fixed easy enough, its if they decided its too expensive to fix. And if you can get the bits - eg Sportstars are hard to find, as you know, and black doors/wings aren't that common...
Would need to look for subframe damage/distortion as well, if its taken that much of a clonk, although plenty of breakers here. Suspect PITA to remove.
-
really sorry to hear this Chris :(
Glad to hear its slow speed and your ok :y
Does not sound good, damage described sounds like a write of from insurance view :'(
Sure a DIY fix with OOF help can get it back on the road :)
-
Gutted for you Chris, especially if it does turn out to be an insurance job!
Glad your ok (the main thing) and hope it all gets sorted to your satisfaction.
