my 2.2 auto omega has now developed a gearbox leak between the torque converter and gearbox,(leaking from where the 2 mating faces join)can anyone recommend a good stop leak product that would work as a temporary measure,?cheers... :)

NO!
is it the actual (paper?) gasket, or the TC seal that's failed?
either way, no quick bodge available
-
im guessing the paper gasket between the 2 faces, been underneath, sumps are fine and leak is further forward,if its a gearbox out job il have to leave it ,the car has cost a fortune since i got it,so looks like its monthly top ups from now on .doh...

I know a local guy that does this sort of work. £200 labour plus parts for a crank seal for instance....?
Or there's sassanach on here, down I Bath I believe...? Or somewhere down there?
Depends where you are I guess?
Certainly there's no stop leak bodge for that worth doing. Asking for trouble. And if the leak suddenly gets worse there a risk of an accident and fubar box.

Probably the seal on the g/box input shaft mate - gbox out job to fix - seal costs about a tenner - allow 3-4 hours with two people (gbox is heavy!) :y
-
Its a heavy git the AR25, easier job on 4 pots as you don't need to drop the downpipes & cats. :)

thanks for the replies,im not a big fan of putting an additive into the gearbox that essentially is going to clog it up,ive jet washed the underneath of the engine and gearbox so il monitor it.it had been parked up all this week and only noticed the problem when i reversed it of the drive this morning..leaving a nice patch on the flags...doh...

On re reading, that should be rear crank seal, which need the gear box removing ti fix.

Depends whether its an oil leak or an ATF leak - as the op says gbox leak assumes atf leak.
However he op has not specified which ???
