On starting from cold there is a strange noise, it’s like a high pitched tone, something between a whistle and whirring sound.
It only last a few minutes, I got a felling it has something to do with the choke (if it has one). when warm the sound goes.
Anyone got any ideas what it could be?

I also got some questions about airbag and exhaust emission lights and alarm, would I have to start a new topic for each one?

I'm gonna guess at SAI .. secondary air injection .. but it would be of great assistance to know which engine/fuel you have ..... I've guessed at V6 petrol ..... but .......

Thanks for trying to help, I thought all the info was in my signature.
It's petrol, you could be right about it being a v6 :-[ Year 2000, GLS Auto 2000cc 16V. all I know ATM
Just class me as an idiot, :-[ only had the car just over a week and don't get to see it everyday :(

Secondary Air Injection pump as already stated ... I had the same problem with my W reg 2.0 16v. You don't need it so either rip it all out or (much simpler) just unplug it. You'll find the pump and the loom multiplug just in front of the front nearside wheel, under the horns ;)

Thanks for that, :y I had visions of paying out a little fortune to get it sorted.
I’ll have a go at it tomorrow.
