Hi,
I`m currently playing around with resetting the crash data on various models of Airbag ECU`s and was wondering if anyone out there in Ooferland has any spare ECU`s that they would care to let me have a play with.
Not worried if they are from cars where the airbags have been deployed, as I`m looking to reset these, and I`m more than happy to return these once finished with in a fully reset condition
Can anyone help at all ?
:)

In fact, not just restricted to Omega`s - I`m after as many different makes and models of airbag ecu`s as I can lay my hands on, as I am starting my technical database from absolutely nothing

Im sure I have at least one I can let you have Dave.Working all weekend so will have a look on Monday. :y

no, its a fault, though could still be sensor/wiring...

Is a door side sensor any use Dave?

Not really (but thanks for the thoughts) - Its the memory function inside the ECU that I am playing with - when the airbags are deployed, the ECU "remembers" this and prevents it from being used again, meaning that you have to buy a new one after an accident. We have managed to reset the crash data inside, so that they can now be refitted again. I`m after as many different types as I can get so that I can publish some pictures and write some technical documents for this.

Interesting.
When I got my car the airbag light was on.
"a mate" plugged his "My Naff Code Reader" in hoping to reset the light and was gobsmacked to see the message
Fatal Airbag ECU fault - (or something like that), but was then given the option to reset it. The reset worked thankfully.
Cant find the ECU - its not where I thought it should be - house move ::)
Will have a deeper look asap.
Thanks - Rob

Indeed interesting - wasn`t aware that they could be reset with "My Naff Code Reader" or Tech2 even ?
Can`t say I have tried with either, but other manufacturers and Marques certainly struggle to be reset using their own diagnostic equipment - hence why I have started to get involved with this.
-
Tech2 is not able to reset one...

Fatal Airbag ECU fault
Could such a message be caused by faulty wiring / sensor ?
It would explain why it could be reset with "My Naff Code Reader" ?
???
-
Dave, I've got a couple of airbag ecu's here that you can have. It's a bit cheeky I know, but any chance you'd consider swapping them for a couple of code resets that I need doing, and I'll cover all the postage costs?
You don't ask, you don't get... :y

Probably. There is a specific fault code indicating "Airbag system deployed" or words to that effect, and it can't be reset.

Always happy to return some favours - what radios do you have that need resetting ?

You are an absolute star !! :) :y

Tech 2 can clear a fault code but not reset one which has activated a a safety system as a result of a deployment.
Pretty sure that some versions of "My Naff Code Reader" can reset them.
Airbag ecu fault is a fault code so could be cleared.
