done it a couple of times since i got it back from the MOT and new suspension fitting.... just flicked on and off a couple of times, maybe under a little acceleration, never done it before, and i don't recall ever seeing that on previous miggys either
-
duff/loose switch ????? :-\ :-\
-
Maybe it's turning evil? ;D

Check the brake fluid as the level switch is normally on the same circuit as the hand brake (im not 100%sure if it is with the omega ). If the fluid is low it would definitely give the symptoms you described.

which is exactly what the manual says http://images.omegaowners.com/documents/UserGuides/OmegaOct2002.pdf page 28 but I've never ever seen an electrical connection :-\ :-\ My Manta years ago used to have a push button in the middle of the cap to check it

will definitely have a look in daylight tomorrow.... what with all the suspension being changed this week, i guess it's possible they lost some and didn't top it up..... brakes FEEL ok though, so hopefully not a leak or anything....

Yep. Reckon they forgot to top it up.

fluid level :y

And another vote for fluid level :y
Personally I'd probably change the fluid whilst it's low ;) Unless it's been done recently of course

Another vote for fluid level
BUT...
I did once have an extremely loose handbrake cable on a Carlton which meant that the handbrake lever needed to be pushed all the way down or else the brake warning light would flicker occasionally.........
-
Cheers chaps, it was indeed, a tad low... topped up for now, but will be changed again when i get it serviced by Lee...
(may be working in solihull soon, so it ought to be easy to arrange then)
(i think he did actually change it all when we replaced all the discs and pads about a year ago. )
(filters and stuff already obtained to do a service.... just got to sort out when i'm going up there for work and arrange it with the man... )

Are both handbrake return springs present and correct on the brake back plate? They hook between the cable ends and a hole in the back plate.
-
i hope so.... ;) topping it up has cured the light flashing occasionally.... i gave it plenty of opportunity last night... :y
