Seems to be a bumper year for spiders this year...and some are absolute beauties...

Meet Terrence (The tarantula  ;D) who lives outside our backdoor

Not exactly keen on them myself, but if I find any in the house they do get the opportunity to start a new life in the back garden.

I trap them with a glass, then slide a piece of card underneath them before releasing them outside. Mrs Opti runs and hides like a little girl....... ;D ;D

Good pics, and yes we have them everywhere here, jumping spiders? Keep making they're webs accross the back door, rear garage door, alley way, and keep walking in to them getting covered in spiders web.

Got the big buggers in the house too. Conquers all round the house now, not seen one since.  :y

I love spiders had a monster cast its web on my boat last year, I went to see how she was doing every day and was gutted to see her dead when she had tackled a wasp  :'( she had wrapped the wasp up in a fatal wrap of web before here demise though  :y

My house is filled with tons of those 'dorset spiders' as my folks would call them (tiny rice-grain sized bodies, massive spindly legs).. they seem to be constantly multiplying, faster than I can hoover the damn things up..

I mean.. faster than I can relocate them to the garden. MMhm.

How does a spider anchor its web miles away from the main web?  ??? ???

I read somewhere that these kill other spiders, and as I too like spiders generally, we get rid of these. :y :y :y

Thats pretty much what I'm doing!  I'm even boycotting the tumble dryer in case I lose a limb on the way past....can see him waiting to pounce and drink my blood!

Had cured my phobia until this year, would appear I now need more work! :(

If you want to keep Spiders from invading your house get some conkers and place them in the corners of the room.
failing that you could just throw them at the blighters when they leg it across the floor

dunno, I assumed they jump? Have seen the small ones on a long thread blown by the wind, not the big ones...yet.

Their webs are massive, there's a pampas grass in our garden with a small tree about 1.5 meters away, with a huge web spanning the gap. Can't really see it during the day but when the sun moves round low it lights up silver. Beautiful.

bleh 'orrble things cant stand em at all! i barely go in the workshop cus theres just too much chance of being pulled in and killed by spiders. loads of the ones with tiny bodys and long legs around the house though, i dont mind them so much and if they are killing other spiders they can stay. otherwise its a size 11 hit with enough force to snap a floorboard  ;D
dont see many of the OPs type spider here tho tbh
