Post by: Varche on 12 October 2011, 18:16:53
Or anyone else.

How did you get your good finish ? Spray or brush on. ?

Also what is powder paint  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POWDER-COATING-PAINT-JOHN-DEERE-YELLOW-1-LB-/260824856396?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cba5f774c

I spray finish the panels and major flat surfaces.

I start with a coat of zinc rich etch primer, then a coat of undercoat (I add a small amount of the colour in to).

Then a few coats of top coat flatting between with the final having quite a bit of thinners in.

For castings etc I slap it on with a brush (but again it has thinners in for the final coats

Powder coat paint goes on as a powder and is then backed to make it flow and then harden

You can get a little 'home' powder coating kit now which, apparently, works very well for small parts (so they said in Complete Kit Car, anyway) - of course you can only do anything you can fit in your oven.. and you can't use the oven in the house as it lets off noxious gases during the curing.

Easier to get a professional to do that, methinks :)
