Title: multiram
Post by: fiend61 on 14 October 2011, 17:26:55
hmm me again  :(
have another problem with the facelift compared to the mfl
if i squeeze the pipe that goes (into?) the icv on the mfl the pipe compresses and the car revs change which i take as right
on the f/l if i do the same thing nothing happens you can hear a restriction of air but nothing like what happens on the mfl
is this pointing to an airleak somewhere or the multirams not working ??
once again what is the best way to find out what is wrong?

If I am understanding what you your meaning mate... if you squeeze the pipe that goes from the ICV to the Bagpipes the car should stall.. if not then an airleak could be drawing air in to prevent this.... :)

As for the Multi Rams not working.... to check them blip the throttle at around 1000 rpm the rear multi ram should activate. Rev the car to 4000 rpm and the front multi ram should activate. :y

Hope that helps

that is exactly what happens on the mfl on the f/l nothing happens  :( so it must be drawing air in from somewhere, the way to check is spraying carb cleaner and listening for engine note change??
also i can check the plumbing side by copying mfl if all else fails i can swap over the multirams, i take it there is no difference as they are both 2.5's ???
thanks

Have you changed anything at all on the facelift? like removed the Plenum or Inlet Manifold? are the Bagpipes Jubilee Clips all tight? are the bagpipes correctly on the Throttle Bodies? :)

the cam cover gaskets have just been done (elite pete) but car was like it before they were changed, i have only just started to use the car as the mfl is getting ummm a bit tired  :( :( and just starting to find out things like this, also the revs blipping every know and then sits at 500rpm then sometimes blips to 1200 rpm and straight back down again, also the revs not changing when turning on/off aircon  :( just things i want to get sorted so it is every good as my mfl was  :y

May have been worth having Pete casting his eye over the airleak  :y
