Title: Will Opel Motorsport's X30XE chip work in Catera ECU?

I am wondering if the Catera's ECU is the same as the 3.0 omega's, and if I too can install the opel motorsport's performance chip.

Any idea?

What age is the 3.0? There are differences between UK and US, its not as high compression, 3.0 is DBW unlike ours.

I would vote no, it won't be plug and play. But anything is possible.

It's a 1998, sport model 3.0

I didn't know the compression ratio's were different. Sorry, what is DBW?

Drive by wire, our 3.0's have throttle cables.

You have different instuments and are limited iirc?

cant see it working to be honest

My car has throttle cables too. Instruments (dash instruments) are definitely different for sure, the whole cluster is different. But limited?

I think the difference in compression ratios kills the idea but I am still learning what is actually different between the catera 3.0 and omega 3.0

Maybe you could get an ECU off a scrap car in the US and send it to the UK for a forum member to try out on a (nearly) scrap car?

If it is performance you are looking for then maybe bringing the engine spec up to European spec would be a way forward though more costly and involving head changes etc.

That's a good idea but catera's are surprisingly rare in the scrap yards, not what you would expect. So a spare ecu may be difficult and costly to come across.

But yes I am looking for a little bit more power. Not ready to crack the engine open though yet, it runs too well for me to disturb it, has 99k miles now. Definitely an option for the future though.
