If your at the Essex meet tomorrow Lazydocker will probably have a tool with him which should be able to turn it off, or at least find out why its on.

Nope, like I said in my original Post the code is 31 Drivers SQUIB high resistance.
The wiring to the airbag in the side of the seat.
Anyone help me find a permenant fix?
Cheers

ok, in that case the usual suspects remain the airbag itself, its connections to seat loom (there was a bulletin about that) or seat to car loom connections

SQUIB normally refers to the ring behind the steering wheel ;)

In that case I stand corrected... But I've only ever known it referring to the wheel

A squib is a miniature explosive device
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squib_(explosive)
But AFAIK "31" is a generic code, so the question is whether they mean 'Drivers [wheel] squib' or 'Drivers [seat] squib'.. which I don't know - I presume the OP has the service manual which tells him, though, hence he knows it's referring to the seat not wheel?

checked, 31 is wheel bag

Thank you very much for all the replies.
I've certainly learnt something today.
Not sure I'll be returning to the place I took it previously.
I've been fairly insistent about the side air bag as I have been under the impression that that's where I should have been looking...
There's a big difference between Squibs and Squabs.
So Steering wheel Air bag it is. Does this mean replacing or is it a fixable commodity?

Wouldn`t have thought so Matt :-\

I'm a bit behind at the moment; As it is an airbag replace, should I get a new one from Vaux - or try fitting other ones from older steering wheels? :-[

I would have thought a new one would be cost prohibitive, one of the breakers here should have a known good one
