i have no idea the car seems smooth but when i go over speed humps slow or fast i catch the exhaust so i need to know what the ride height for the rear unloaded to see if they have been fitted right or even the right ones

Mine is a 1998 PFL Tourer Estate and I had exactly the same problem.
The only way I sorted it was to fit Heavy Duty Springs.
When compaired the springs are all the same height but the HD ones are a lot thicker....

i give it a go as i will take it back to the garage tomorrow and tell them to sort it i just wanted to know to make sure that it wasn't just me being paranoid, as it sits 34cm (13.5 inch) center of wheel to wheel arch

:y :y :y :y :y   Sorry  . .  been at work today  :( :( :(   Standard should be 675 mm  from ground to wheelarch through center of wheel. as Chris says.

Bit of a minefield  this subject though as unless you have had the car from new you don't know what has been put on it.

I think they should be LQ  ident mark for a FL   CDX  estate :-\ :-\ :-\  hope this helps

If you have self levelling try both ways with engine off first . then see if you get a different reading with the engine running.

IMO  the idea of self levelling is to keep the ride height correct whatever load is in the car  :-\ :-\ :-\

With self levelling the spring ident code should be  LR.  these ident codes are on VX springs & not aftermarket. :) :)

Sorry I can't do pics either  :-[ :-[  I'm a computer muppet ;D ;D

Does the car rise from it's engine off position when the engine is started. This can be slightly delayed . You should hear the self levelling compressor start up & run for a short time.

But are you certain it has self levelling ?  Is there a small black air line pipr going to each shock absorber?

IMO  Self levelling will only work if the car has some sort of load in the back  or rear seats.

i will have to look i thought that all cdx came with ? if you can picture it my back wheel looks almost level with the wheel arch well what you can see from the side and im going cornwall soon and would like to make sure that all is good.

If you are saying that the top of the tyre is level with the edge of the wheelarch, then IMO that is too low , even MV6's dont sit that low.

675mm ot there abouts  is the magic figure.  Even with a full tank of fuel it can decrease a little bit.

Pretty certain self levelling was not standard on CDX, but someone  else on here will confirm that. Could have been an extra though !

To sum up , it sounds like if you have had new springs fitted, they are the wrong ones.

Self levelling cars don't sit any lower than std, the self levelling only comes in if the ride height is too low because of load in the car.

But we need to know if self levelling is fitted first , before we can any where :y

Matt, measure from the ground to the wheelarch, through the center of the wheel & post the measurement on here.

From what you sayI'm guessing it's gonna be 640 ish which is too low :o :o :o

Also have a look in the picture gallery at a few CDX estates & compare to what you have. Should give you an idea of how it should be sitting :y

your close ive got 650 give or take a couple of mm

I've just measured mine, standing on the level with standard shocks (old ones at that! ;D) and the Heavy Duty springs and it measures 680mm from ground to wheel arch across the centre of the wheel.
The new springs certainly solved my problems with speedhumps :y
Hope this helps

About an inch (25mm) too low  IMO.   even MV6's  are 660mm

Who changed the springs  . . local garage?    without a doubt it should sit at  675mm minimum. so probably wrong springs :( :( :(

Might be a suggestion to ask them which springs they fitted .  If they say "Omega"  then they probably have not a clue that there are lots of different Omega rear springs. :o

Out of interest , has this only happened since you had the new springs fitted?  or was the car sitting low before?

Also  worth noting that knackered shocks won't help  :y

Any chance saloon springs were fitted by accident? They are considerably shorter than Estate ones.

I took it back this morning and that's exactly what they said they put the saloon ones on and are ordering the right ones and will call me when the parts arrive but we will see thanks all for you help and advise and thank you big al for all your help.
And I've only broken one ( i miss it) the cam belt snapped on me a week before it was going in to be replaced and did a fair bit of damage.  :y
