Hi guys,
Posted my problem here before and was advised to change my cdc2 changer.
Basically my changer was not ejecting the magazine, so i bought another one from LINCS ROBERT :y
Just fitted it and i still have the same problem :'(
Can anybody advise me? Is there a problem with my headunit (BOSE ccrt700)
Hope somebody can help :)
Thanks guys

is it the right cdc2? Not locked either?
-
being a ccrt700, worth pulling radio out for an hour as well
-
As said:
Make sure you have teh right version of CDC2 (same 10 digit number on the side)
Pull head unit for 1 hour
Refit changer, and then refit head unit

Yes deffo the right one, all numbers are the same, and not locked, i have the code which works, rob told me it was working
when he tested it as he wouldnt have been able to get the cds out he used to test it. really strange that it is doing the same thing as the old one. will go take the headunit out now and put it back in in an hour or so :y
Will let you know if anything changes. :y
-
OMG! :D I removed the headunit for 2 hours put it back in and what do you know the f*****g thing is working. :y
I now have 2 cd changers that both work. I just wish somebody told me to try that on my last post before i bought a new changer. Oh well. at least i have a spare now i suppose. :)

You can now play copied CDs in your CD player & have a spare for when it goes t1t5 up, or you can wait till some here posts that they have buggered up their CD player by playing copied CDs & offer to sell them a working player. ::) :y ;D ;D

OO does playing copied cds make them go wrong then?
I have been playing copied cds and it has started jumping.
Will stop doing that then :y

Cleverer electrickery people will give you the technical reasons, but from what I've understood ...... CDRs weren't thought of when Omegas were first built so the laser wasn't designed to read CDRs so playing them strains the laser to kills it off sooner rather than later. ;) ;)
-
edit ...... SO kills it off etc etc ;)
-
Gobsmacked.
I've learnt something myself.
Made absolutely 100% it worked ok on all discs before shipping.
Good result :y

CDRs are not good for older car players. However, the CDC2 is fairly robust in this respect - just keep to quality media.
CDC3 are very weak, never play CDRs in these
-
Given the age of the CDC2 lasers now, I wouldn`t risk the CDR`s in them either, especially as Blaupunkt have stopped supplying lasers for them also.
For those who want to know more about non compatable CD`R then take a look at this

Only if such a format existed !!!
It doesn`t, its a playback only format as used by the audio manufacturers.
Genuine discs ONLY !!
;)

This format does exist as i had to buy them for a cd recorder i used to own. cd-r's didnt work you had to buy compact disc digital audio ones or it would not work. :y
So if i use them i will be ok then :y

No.
They do not meet the Redbook physical format standard. Nothing recordable does.

ok then i will take your word for that :y
I wont be playing copied cds in my player anymore :'(

You have a spare CDC2 - and I reckon the CDC2 is more robust. CDRs probably will kill it eventually, given time, but as you have a spare....
CDC3 (as fitted to facelifts) do fail regularly after seeing CDRs

just to explain in plain english (with a geek accent) for a moment., "proper" cd's are not "burned" using a laser to make spots in a dye layer inside the disc, , they are a physical pressing, a tiny bit like an old LP , only much finer.... as such, a proper CD , has much better defined differentiation between bits of data than a burned CDR does, and are much easier to focus on, producing less wear on the laser control mechanism.
essentially, playing a CDR is a bit like trying to play a high resolution picture of an LP....
the fact that it can be done at all is a bit of a miracle of technology..... and the fact that it's much harder work should not really be as surprising as people think....
so yeah CDR's knacker older laser assemblies..... that were not designed with such tasks in mind.....

So I have been stuck with the same bloody discs in my CDC2 for 2 years and all I needed to do was pull the head unit for an hour........... AAArrgghhhh! ;D
Sure I have asked the question of how to eject the bugger before but maybe this is recent wisdom. :y

Not necessarily - if the CDC2 fails, then there will be an error code stored in the head unit that the changer has failed - plugging in another changer will not reset this retained error message, that can only be reset by pulling the head unit and refitting AFTER a good changer has been plugged in first
;)
