What is it with this car - everything it has major engine work done, I take it for a spirited drive, and it blows its load.

this time wasn't anywhere near as spectacular as last time when MDTM did the lifters - that was the entire coolant capacity up the windscreen at high speed  :-[

this was more embarrassing, driving back in the Close after an enjoyable run, brakes given off an awful lot of smoke, then it blows a load of steam out of the bonnet. Felt a right prick.

Why is still theories, but the cap was only just on, and the entire engine was covered in that horrid, sticky liquid.l

that's a possibility, though I would have thought the pressure relief valve would have gone firdt?

If the cap wasn't sealing, it would have boiled over as soon as the revs dropped after a thrash, as the pressure in the water jacket dropped, so that's plausible.

Question is, did the cap pop off its' threads or did some muppet forget to tighten it er.. nope. no second thing. :-X

we're hoping one of us did the latter, but neither of us could think why we would have loosened it....
