Alot of love & work from lodger Steve & a few pennies from my a/c. New mohair hood, full s/s decat powerflow system & 4-2-1 manifold, both rear/sill arches welded, all four wheels refurbed & a lovely new coat of 2 pack Mazda Classic red!

Whoops. MX5's have a heat shield fitted as standard. Since the 4 2 1 manifold was fitted it's gone but is still 6 or 7 inches away from the manifold & on the 3rd to last pic you can see the cold air feed under the bunper on the nearside.

Worth putting some sheilding around it Amigo, as it will hurt performance :y

Seconded... Run it right around the back and down so it meets the cold air feed and over the top and down the front a bit... You'll still get the induction shout that you're looking for but will get nice cold air into the engine :y :y :y

I'll look at the heat shield issue. Pete will love it though!!!!! 8)

Very nice Guy ....Looking good :y :y

3 out of 4 of my daughters would kill for one like that....... it's very pretty..... (if a little small, for my tastes)

all the open mx5 induction kits are like that even ones one supercharged or turboed cars and never heard of anyone complaining about it hurting performance so it it seems to work leave it alone imo :)

Should have put all the ones ive seen on cars oops ::) but seriously open kits dont seem to cause a problem on themas theres a fair amount of airflow through the engine bay, although a bit of shielding or a good cold air feed cant hurt, or failing that an enclosed kit as i have fitted to my car/omega slayer lol :y

I think the nation will always be at loggerheads with induction kits. Whether or not they help or hinder overall performance could be argued forever, i'm not that teccy to worry the odd split second or bhp here & there, i just like the induction roar & the way they change the character of the car to drive although the new decat exhaust/ manifold drowns it out now!!!
MOT tomorrow!

so nice to see a finished project, looks really good, top job done there, want to do my miggy next?
