Title: lets address the really important things in football!
Post by: jerry on 18 October 2011, 12:36:28
Diving/abusive behaviour/grappling the opposition/consistency in refereeing (not to mention the overpayed primadonna lot). Nah. Personally I dont mind some goal scoring celebrations. The old kissing and hugging bit (so well taken the micky out of in Harry Enfield's old skit) might be OTT but whats really too wrong about doing cartwheels or even the obligatory knees-on-the-grass slide? And what is so offensive about removing your shirt that it warrants a yellow card(even though such behaviour seems to me pointless)? And then there is Mick McCarthy complaining that Paul Scharner raised his club shirt to display his undershirt to the home supporters. What was it that so upset Mick and his players? was it something that would deliberatly wind them up? Something abusive about Wolves perhaps? No, it was actually just a plain t-shirt with the WBA crest drawn on it by his kids. Maybe their loss in a generally entertaining and good humoured black country derby was just too much for him ;D

I was talking about the "beautiful game" -so not rugby then ;D.(yeh, I know that football (with the round ball!) games couldnt all be described as such, far from it, but rugby couldnt ever be so described surely)

haha you lot are silly. rugby union (the proper rugby game) is the best game ever. i got a season ticket with northampton saints. and as well as the game itself being far more exciting and adrenaline fuelled than footy, it's also nice to be treated like an adult and can drink in the stands whilst mingling and having friendly banter with other teams' supporters.

NOTHING important about footy nowadays. Most "english" teams have hardly any english players, are owned by foreigners & the players regardless of thier origin are hair gelled chest waxing overpaid nancy boys who dive & only play for money & fame.

Hard to be enthusiastic when we can't even put a world cup squad together once every 4 years... We should be ashamed really.

rugby fans dont need controlling. i have gone to the rugby home and away since i was a nipper and the worst thing i've ever seen was some saracens fans singing ''oh when the saints go marching home'' after a pretty hefty defeat  :'(

Its not an anger thing at all ... its pure passion for your club that sometimes comes across  as pure anger  to some.

Totally agree fella.

The thing that winds me up about football is the total lack of respect for the ref by the prima donna divers. Its been said before and i totally agree with it. Use the same rugby ref rules for footy....you mouth off you lose 10 yards, mouth off again..another 10 yards. Give it a week or so and even the f*ckwit players will learn to shut up and get on with what they are paid for even if they are paid stupid money.

And another - use the same rugby 3rd eye (video play back) to make sure the refs get it right!

Job done, problem solved :y

ive had season tickets with cobblers (northampton town) and man city. and now saints rugby. imo theres a noteable difference between the fans. theres so much abuse at the football and imo a lot of angry people. i used to get carried away with it but i prefer the rugby cos there never ever is a hostile atmosphere. footy fans would say thats being a pussy but im too old to care  ;D

generally football fans are more passionate than rugby fans  hence the better atmosphere at football   generally at the den the atmosphere is electric  its like a drug  cant get enough :y
