Here's the problem: fairly random intermittent knock on rough roads. Seems to be to front on passenger side.
I suspect the top strut bearing ( as its done 90k on rough ish roads). Is there any way of checking the bearing?
Other than that, the other thing I suspect is droplinks - again, what's the best way of checking these?

Top strut mounts on these are a complete pain in the arse to get off without the correct tools, wiggle the wheels around, also get a pry bar under the wheel and move it up and down :y

Wife's Astra H had a loud knock when going over bumps. Two new drop links and noise all gone. Plastic drop links on hers, but some models have metal ones.

Should of added that has only done 40.000 miles.

Just fitted two new struts and springs to my 55 plate astra H. It took me about 10 min to take the strut off. Do not take the nut off the top until you have the spring compressed. Drop link is plastic :y undo droplink, remove both lower strut bolts, unclip brake hose, remove black plastic caps at top and the whole thing will drop out so you can take it apart. you could have the job done in an hour :y

Only put new one's in as one of the springs had gone and the nut at the top was rusted on, had to drill it in the end to get it off.
new bearing £16.87 trade club No. V0013270705 plus VAT
new strut and are handed can't remember which is which V0093195917/6 £65.12 each trade club plus VAT
I have the old nearside strut here complete and mine is a 1.3 CDTI.
Don't know how much drop links are as the old ones are still good at 145K

Drop links are known to knock and its a more dull knock than an Omega due to them being plastic.
I have seen a few top bearings go but, not to many. If its the top bearing then you can feel the top of the strutt jerk as the steering wheel is turned (due to the failed ball bearings locking up)
