Title: alternator belt snapped

Hi guys misses took car down round and power steering went yes belt snapped my question is has she damaged the engine by it running hot right over the red car just went into limp mode 1500 rpm 2nd gear max thanx in advance

I'm assuming it's a V6 then ???

Unfortunately, you won't know until you try it again... You might have been lucky ;)

Sorry lazy my car details used to be by name seems to have disappeared it a 2 5td x25 engine u think 6 pot

Ohh... Don't know the TD that well but getting that hot won't have done it any favours :( How long for? And, like I said, for the cost of a belt I'd give it a try ;)

Matter of mins mate got it home only did 2miles it so let cool down did it in a few short hops have mec coming Mon to sort and service it for me fing crossed my own fault new it needed doing was booked in for Mon to be done with full service just my luc :-[k lol

The 2.5 Diesel really doesn't like getting too hot even for a minute or two :(

Depending on what year your car is you need to paper clip it and see what codes you get. I would fit a new auxiliary belt and see what happens, worst case scenario is the head might be warped or cracked :(

Thanks Pete il get my cousin to drop his tec thingy on it Mon when he comes to do belt see what throws up no engine management lights on it so finger crossed
