Title: testing alternater

this morning i needed a jump start, battery an 88amp still has 2yrs guarrantee. when it started i checked it, engine running showed 13.8 , not running 12.8 . after a 10ml run the readings remained the same. i,m not sure on how to check the alternater     can anybody help pls  :y
