What a gorgeous car :-* :-*
-
it is a very nice car had a drive of one today...not cheap though :y
-
Oh lordy, that is pig ugly at the front :o
-
hummmm not very keen on that.
-
Ugly as sin. ::)
-
It's a "marmite car", clearly..
(Personally I agree - fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down)
-
ugly as sin brick on wheels yuk
-
I think it looks spot on!
Looks like that front is going to be Vxl's new 'face' following on from the Ampera, so if you boys don't like it, you're not going to like any new Vxl's for some time!!
Ford Mundano anyone? :D :P
-
I dont think Vauxhall have made a truly great looking car since the Senator. ;)
-
Its certainly a provocative style, gonna be love or hate.
At least blandness has the advantage that it won't turn off a significant proportion of customers.
So thumbs up for trying, but maybe overcooked it a bit ;D
-
It has a look of the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.........the big front screen, full length glass roof, rear quater lights back seats etc....
-
Which can never be a good thing. ::) ;)
-
I suppose it echoes the design basics of most other modern cars - all swoopy and aggressive and stuffed with technology but, sadly, it hardly exhibits an individual identity.
I suppose it's valid to wonder just what makes a car good to look at - without considering its prowess in the technology department - and as such, I would give my heart to either of the following rather than this new Vauxhall.

Your taste is impeccable Den. 8) :y

I'd take either one of Den's options over a thousand Senators, too.. Sorry Albs ;)
-
Wouldnt go quite that far Aaron. ;) ;D

:-* :-* :-*
That DS is a thing of beauty. Not sure I'd be happy to drive and maintain it, thinking of all that hydraulic gubbins, but to sit and look at... :D
.. but I do like the Senator, too. It's got something the Omega never had. Probably harks back to its' popularity with the boys in blue when I was first licensed. That grille in your rear view mirror meant you were walking on eggshells back then. ;D
Perhaps also because it would always have a bit of grunt behind it. You wouldn't get excited about seeing one, only to find it's a 4 pot or a tractor. :-X
Oh, and the Zafira sucks, of course. ::)

The DS must've looked like a futuristic space shape when it first appeared on the road. The Traction Avant behind is what it replaced. ;) ;)

Wasn't the Traction Avant the first mass produced wrong wheel drive car ? ???

Wasn't the Traction Avant the first mass produced wrong wheel drive car ? ???
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_Traction_Avant
The Traction Avant, French for "front wheel drive", was designed by André Lefèbvre and Flaminio Bertoni in late 1933 / early 1934. While not the first production front wheel drive car – Alvis built the 1928 FWD in the UK, Cord produced the L29 from 1929 to 1932 in the United States and DKW the F1 in 1931 in Germany – it was the world's first front-wheel drive steel monocoque production car. Along with DKWs 1930s models, the Traction successfully pioneered front-wheel drive on the European mass car market.
I knew the Cord was FWD ;)

Didn't it have a ruddy great straight 8 too?
Must have invented the expressions "torque steer" and "plough straight ahead regardless of driver input" around then too. ;D

And you have to say that the Yanks have stuck with it generally ;D

True enough. ;D

Speaking of the Zafira - I was behind an older model today.. I realised as I got to the junction behind it that there was a padlock & chain hanging down from the spare wheel & wheel cage outside the car.
Is spare wheel theft that big an issue in rural Berkshire? ;D
-
My oldest daughter has a Zafira and it is an ugly utility vehicle, she uses it to transport, her partner, 3 kids and my ex-wife around, hence the need for 6 of the 7 seats. It does the job displayed on the ugly tin.. body.
She is aiming to replace it when she can by an SMAX. I think Ford have done a much better job in this sector of the market, they are also fast but suffer from bad fuel economy even the diesels.

Theft is always a problem everywhere when the economy is bad. >:( >:( >:(

Am I the only one who thinks the new Zafira looks quite futuristic and 100 times better than it used to look? :P
