Post by: azza_126 on 22 October 2011, 23:41:48
the car i have just bought is an ex police car and it had failed the mot on several things and one of them was a broken rer coil spring i managed to get a pair of rear springs (second hand) but there alot longer than the springs that come of the car i believe they must be uprated as its an ex police car does any one where to get the police springs from? or will i just need to buy an uprated set?

ex-police ones are heavy duty to cope with extra weight.

What year is your car?

If they are longer, are you sure you haven't got a set off an estate car?

Any ident codes on either set of springs?   :-\ :-\

VX springs are usually marked in white with a 2 letter code .   LA      or LU     for example

they are softer than standard allowing for more movement.

Personally, I would just stick standard non SL ones in, they don't need up be uprated ones.

I'm going to fit his uprated springs but for the mot I'm going just keep stanard ones as its quicker to get it back on the road
