As many will know, the issue with TBE has grinding on me, and I'd run out of ideas on how to fix it.
Gayboy took it for a spin today, immediately said something was loose.
Jacked it up, fairly quickly found some loose-ish wishbone bolts - all 4 weren't up to the torque setting, but the OS rear one had come quite loose.
Took it out again, that particular problem solved :y
-
Well done to CG. :y
-
Indeed, top bloke. Must also say thanks for his efforts on my 3.2 project this weekend :y
-
good one. :y
-
Your welcome chaps. :y
TB...
Glad we got TB(C)E sorted, and that it was an easy inexpensive fix. Suspect that wim set up during loose wishbone bolts made the car pull the other way, while in that state. Explains what was confusing us.
...although sadly I suppose set up again would be wise. With more extreme set ups IMO, it's important to be fussy and make sure the cars balanced. We can make progress now. :)
Thanks for mixer fiddling, seems ok so far :y
Tunster...
That car is worth persuing as you say. There will be some expense to start with but see what you've got, and go from there. Lambda to order. :y
Oh... And Thankyou for the curry and beer. Although that Bill was a bit unfair on you. We'll get the next one, and you won't have to drive. Which will help me, I was bollixed by the end. And hopefully not to "argumentative" as I was refered to by SWMBO. ;D they really don't get this winde up business do they. ;)

Was hoping that further setups could wait until I can, all in one hit, get wheels refurbed, new tyres, and setup. So was hoping to wait until the tyres are shot.
I'll see how it goes this week (I've relented, she's using the Bullet this week now), and play it by ear.
Although, I doubt the tyres on there currently will last long.
Thanks again :y

Apparently, we were talking "a load of crap" ::)

You ok next Saturday for Wishbones? I'm going to order standard springs too, but I can fit those.

Home made so SWMBO can partake too. It's different ;) Not "Hot" but spicy and flavoursome :y :y Chicken OK or would you prefer Lamb?

It's just fitting wishbones yes? No ploys.... Yet? 13mil socket method for camber. Place your ramps under the jacked wheels, put fatty in the drivers seet, torque the wb bolts. Check all bolts, away you go. :)

Fact I have 6 cylinders is no good, they will just take the mick on my suspension setup. I should point out that their extra err "ballast" is the need for stiffer setup! ;D

Should be piece of piss as your camber is lost. So just undo the shock and fit the steering knuckle to the steering pin, then fit the knuckle to the shock rather than battle levering the wishbone down to line the pin up.

I beg to differ... I need a stiffer setup on mine and I'm... Actually, perhaps it is ::) :D
Still can't decide if it's the inside wheel unloading that causes it so spin up or that the tyres are just not as good as they appeared :-\ :-\

You running those dodgy TDFs from the Saab garage, LD?

Neuton's... Yep, but only on the rear. Needed 2 rear tyres ASAP and the normal cheap ones I use weren't available ::)
Wasn't prepared to pay top dollar at the time for a couple of reasons, one of which is the planned upgrade of all suspension components in the near future ;)

Hmm.. I was this > < close to buying a set of those, too - I was hoping you'd have nothing but good things to say about them, as my current summer tyres desperately need replacing (and the geo doing) before the front drivers side wears down to the canvas on the outside edge :-/

Depends how hard you want to push them ;) ;) They're pretty good AFAICT but need to move them to the front to do braking tests ;)

I don't drive all that hard usually, but when I do I like the tyres to stick .. then again, I have some shoddy make on at the moment and struggle to break traction unless I'm doing something daft (like a hard left and full throttle) ??? so they'd probably be fine.

I'm probably not the right person to review them for you then :-X ::) ;)
Must admit, they are only starting to let go when pushed very hard, but we've not really had any rain yet ::) Although the TC was working hard on Wednesday night when I was being encouraged to floor it around a roundabout ::) ::) Stayed pointing the right way though with an outside temp of 3 :y :y
-
I just can't bring myself to drive the Omega like I drove the MR2 - it all gets a bit wayward and bouncy if I try that.. then again it weighs ~800Kg more and has boat-like suspension being an Elite.. ;D not to mention a slushbox. So I tend to cruise..
Apart from when the red mist descends :-[ :-[ ;D
-
When you get used to the wallow you can push it a bit harder ;)
-
I haven't managed to get past the feeling of "I'm going to die the first time I get to a corner" yet.. ;D
Probably didn't help that I checked the tyre pressures and found three of them at 24psi after my last attempt :-[ (another reason the tyres need doing, three of them don't hold pressure)

Rather disappointingly the wheels/tyres on this one seem to lose a bit of pressure whereas my '99 saloon never needed lost any between checking >:(

Swap front to back then, see if fault moves :)
I can confirm that Sunew, Tornado, Autogrip and Diamondback are all shite tyres, and an awful combination to have on a car. Autogrip being noticibly worse than the others ::)

Tell the garage to fit them properly then ;)

;D

Planning to rotate, but I know that the cheapo ones on the front will light up ;) I need to get these Neutons onto the front anyway to check the braking performance ;)
As for the fitting... I know they were fitted properly because I was stood over them. But they didn't use the rubber bead sealer because the rims seemed in decent nick ::) I'll have to see what happens in the future, I may take them off and clean & seal them ;)
