Title: 2.5 TD Glow Plug Replacement
Post by: twiglet on 29 October 2011, 19:53:59
I've got to change the glow plugs on a 2.5 TD tomorrow, and I was hoping someone could give me a basic, step-by-step guide on how to do it.  I'm sure it's probably fair stright forward, but I've never worked on this type of engine before, so I'd like to be fore-warned if possible.

TIA  :y

Inlet manifold off, be careful that the 6 gaskets don`t tear and when re-fitting don't trap the wire on the sensor injector between the manifold and the block

12mm deep socket as well,  Fairly straightforward job, I did  mine last year, took me about 90 minutes, working carefully and slowly. (first time I had done them)
Helps to soak the manifold studs/bolts with plus-gas a couple of times the day/night before as they have a habit of seizing in place.

Should go fairly easily then. As mentioned, be careful with the wiring though. :y

Best to use a HEXAGON type socket - as opposed to a bi-hexagon job! :y

Thanks for the tips guys.  :y

As it turned out, she only needed a battery connecting up and she fired up straight away!  Not bad for a car that has been standing for 18 months!!   :y

She needs quite a bit of TLC, but I'm very happy to finally add a 2.5 TD manual estate to my collection!!  ;D
