Title: Elite alloys - colour ?
Post by: albitz on 30 October 2011, 18:21:29
Doing a bit of refurb work on a set of facelift 5 spoke alloys.Anyone know the paint code for them ? Would like to get the correct colour if possible rather than Halfords silver wheels or similar.

Never used it, but I'm sure someone said that Wurth do a silver paint that's suitable  :-\

So they are almost exctly the same colour as the cars - if the car is silver ? I thought the wheels were a lighter colour. :-\

Will I need wheel specific paint or lacquer, or will the normal aerosols be ok with several coats of lacquer to haelp with durability ?

scratch resistant car laquer is best  :)   but you need to buy them with hardener and you need a gun and need some practice on some test surface.. ratio is 2 laquer 1 paint .. they are both sold as 1 kg boxes :-\

dupont-standox platinum , applied and tested even with 1500 sandpaper and sandpaper hardly works  ;D :y

and for paint if you have a paint gun (even a cheapo one will  be better than any spray box) why not

start with pearl white and add gray in portions of 50 grs .. and test them on a surface ;D

I know its tedious but I like to play with paints ;D :y

Nowhere to use a compressor Cem, apart from outside on the drive. Tbh,its an 11 year old car, isnt worth a huge amount. Im upgrading some things here and there, but I dont think its worth spending a great deal of money or time trying to make it perfect. ;)

while I was working on it I discovered that painters dont want to spend time for sanding/painting wheels.. and I discovered that with proper tools I can do it quickly and got some money from this job :) ;D

Albs , Wurth silver laquer paint is an EXACT match in colour, shade and mica ( metallic particle) size.
I partially painted one of my Elite wheels and the repair is impossible to detect ( so impossible I can't recall what wheel I repaired )  ::).
I've got detailed photos but am having problems with my internet access being intermittent and too slow to upload photos just now so I cannot show them but will once things get back to normal.
Wurth paint and Upol No 1 UV resistent laquer. :y
