Title: Think your council is bad?

Or this little fact,the council have a team of ppl going around the town counting the fag butts out side of pubs,offices and law courts and issuing a warning if they have more than 15 ciggy ends on the deck outside their building
One of the first places to be issued a warning was the law courts.these inspectors,employed by the council,also failed one of the council buildings and a pub.2nd offence is a £100 fixed penalty.

Don't mind the fag butt thing so much, I hate the way people just chuck rubbish onto the floor and fag butts out of car windows etc... a real hazard when I used to be on two wheels!

......and it was this useless, PC orientated shite government that brought this about in the first place with the introduction of the smoking ban! >:( Another problem that's happening is that residents near pubs are complaining about the noise from the smokers that have been forced by this government to smoke outside. Like everything this government do, they never think things through properly and look at any repercussions that might be caused by their actions. >:(

Rant over. ::)

I'm surprised they employ people to go round doing the fag end count, surely they could do that remotely by CCTV or Spy satellite. Maybe it is a job creation scheme.

Smoking in bars and restaurants was "banned" here in Spain. What actually happened was very little. Some restaurants divided into two parts (smoking and non smoking), small bars with less than 100 customers could choose whether to stay smoking or introduce a ban. Most chose leave things the way they were.

It maybe in our lifetime that you are charged to leave your house, drive, create pollution. Unless you have earned enough credits then ,even if you have the money, foreign travel may be off limits. Places like Dubai will become available only to the top echelons.

All very depressing. Still the budget should cheer us all up.

Yeah- they're also worrying about CO2 emissions from patio heaters (without any science to determe if it's significant, of course). What did they expect? Drive people outside and it's bleeding obvious that pubs will be trying to heat their beer gardens in the winter.

Sell beer 24 hours a day and you get "binge drinkers" no sh1t!

We get nothing but knee jerk policies with no strategy behind them from this rabble.

To be fair, you'd all look down at someone who just threw a deflated balloon on the floor. Why is it different if they are inflated for a few days before falling back down? Littering on a mass scale!

Although we did this at school once and my balloon (with note attached) made it to France and I earnt myself a franco-female pen-friend!

And speaking of French letters, maybe they should be banned too?  ;D
