Well that's it for me, after 16 years its my last 'day' and I'm officially redundant.
Sad to be Glad that I'm going.
Started work for Northwest Securities, who became NWS Bank, who changed their name to Capital Bank, then merged with Bank of Scotland..Who Sold me to IBM, then bought me back again into HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland) who then had to merge with LloydsTSB to form Lloyds Banking Group...who are now far to big and have to get rid of tens of thousands of people.
fair amount of companies.....and just 2 roles within it!
Looking forward to the future, and some exciting new opportunities (after a few weeks getting on with some jobs)!
Bring on the future!!!

It will all come good in the end ;)
-
Aye, all will turn out ok in the end. In the meantime use the time off to spend some quality time at home :y

one hopes there is a respectable settlement package.....

A bit of a rest to reward yourself for all the years of daily grind. Then inform prospective employers that they can form an orderly queue. :y

Thanks all!.....Been a funny old day.
I hope they've got you drunk by now? ;)
-
Some have had a few, Ive commitments tonight I need to remain sober(ish) for.
-
I was totally off my face on my last day at my last job, don't think I'd drunk so many shots!
I was still drunk 9am the following day! ;D
-
All best for your new ventures too :y
-
JimBob - not wishing to pour cold water on the idea of having time off and then looking for a job later, I would however, suggest you get your cv and stuff in order now and if you are set on getting another job keep it going alongside your other tasks. Time flies in these situations.
Obviously depends on level of job you want to get - you may want something totally different to before - but I would not let any grass grow if I wanted to return to work
-
Sorry to hear the day has finally come Jimbob, but as already said a man of your calibre wont be allowed to sit on his arse for long! ;D Good luck for the second half of your working life :y
-
One door closes another one opens etc , hope it all works out for you mate :y
-
Happy job hunting Jimbob and 2woody.
Secretly jealous of your fresh starts, but know there aren't many jobs that match my skills/grade outside of the Big Smoke at the moment, so I'll hang on for richer pickings for now.
-
Best of luck for the future Jimbob :y
-
Your new job Jimbob is to find another - and you must apply yourself to this. I speak from experience mate. Good luck with the hunting :y
-
Good Luck Jimbob....... :y :y :y
-
It will take a week or so for it to truely sink in and then the reality of the new position you are in will hit!
So good luck but dont forget you need to plan well for your next venture and start it now :y plus get the CV sorted as you will need it even if your going it alone.
Always here for a chat/advice should you need it :y
-
Hope you find something soon Jimbob, in the meantime try and enjoy your time at home. Best wishes :y
-
Sincerely wish you all the best JB :y
-
So JB, hows the hangover this morning ::)
-
Thanks for all the good wishes...
No hangover, only had 1 pint all day!
My plan is to go into partnership with a colleague from a few years back, we will be doing this in a couple of months.
Meanwhile I have a lot of courses to go on, some provided via old employer through an advisory service, some from Wales training, some from Tax office.
Lots and lots to do, both in preparation for the venture, and around the house.
-
Good luck with it Jimbob, I hope your plan has much success.. :y
-
Good luck to you and Woody in your new ventures.....But be warned the big R blues can hit at any time tho
