Hi all,
This may seem stupid to you, but its bugging me and swmbo ???
Comings back from Brackley last night we passed through a weird smell area which I can only describe as Iodine. Really stinks the car out. Have been through the same smell between Penn and Beaconsfield a few times, and down the A127 last Saturday when on my way to Essex Big Als place.
What IS this smell, anyone got any idea. :y Is it farm stuff? or what....really bugging us.

There's a place between Basingstoke and Alton on the A339 that absolutely reeks. It's a composting site for garden refuse. Worth a look on Google maps, etc. at the affected area to see if you can see anything in the satellite pictures?

Brackley - Putrid smell - TB had a curry the night before. ;) ;D ;D

Surely in that case, it would be Methane, not Iodine, (unless someone put something extra in his curry??) :D :D :D :D :D

Its like Banbury. I always know when its time to get off the M40... ...I can smell Banbury.

Was it at Basildon by any chance ? Big Sewage treatment plant right next to A127 there. Stinks to high heaven most days as you pass by.
Another possibility . . could it be Strongbow emissions wafting 'round your car ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Going off on a massive tangent but my birth town was renouned for having a strange and unique smell due to the linoleum works which was the main employer, back in the day. Smell originated from the linseed oil that was processed into lino which became the floor covering of choice to the victorians etc.
Even became a poem! Dunno if you angles can translate but its certainly weel kent up here in the local venacular. Enjoy....

Got the smell again this afternoon, but I am upgrading it to smelling like TCP and by 'eck is it strong !!!!
No Al...it was on my way down....not after we hit the Somerset apples ;D Just been to dentist today to get teeth repaired. :y Great weekend mate....
