Title: Central locking problem, any help welcome.
Post by: M0T0RVATE on 07 November 2011, 09:57:49
Good morning, or NOT in my case...

I have been away for a week, went to my Omega this morning and battery is flat but worst part is the central locking will not open door !!  >:(
Never had this problem before, so what is causing the central locking to do this ?  :-\
When keys is fully turned the latch is barely up.

Any advice welcome... :)

you need to keep turning that key, you think its going to break, it won't. Keep turning & the door pin will pop up fully  :y

Central locking won`t operate with a flat battery. Key in door, turn past the point of resistance and try the door. Be advised that the doorpin will not neccessarily pop up

Perhaps can give a secondary electrical supply via alternator poles. Positive pole of spare battery goes to the alternator + point, negative pole goes to any place of chassis or engine body ! Miggy jacked up and go !!!  :y :y :y

Hello and thanks for all the advice received.  :y :y
Turned the key beyond the point of resistance and got the door open. Battery now charging.  :) 8)
Unfortunately my key, old original 1994, could not take it, it twisted a bit, but the plastc end of the key broke off.  :(

Just need to get a new one cut, I have a blank but the guys with computer key cutters wont do it because old key is twisted and broken. Today I am taking it to someone with an "old style" key cutter. Presumably a 'manual' cutter and not computerised ??
