any help would be much appreciated cheers Rob :y

Have you got the disc in ???
Have you ever had it working
-
Maybe some clue as to the satnav type ;)
-
Hi folks yes the disc is in ;D and the satnav is a ncdc2015 h/u just got a second hand arial base as my old one had no thread for the actual twig arial and installed it (straight swap) the sat nav was working before i took the old arial base apart :-[ then it gave the message that i mentioned in my original post so put new arial base in and thought that would be it ! but i am still getting the same message ? >:( i have noticed however that the gps logo in the corner of the screen is red and doesnt change to green i am guessing that this makes a difference ? ):-\ ???
-
Rob, I'd double check that you haven't damaged the small pins in the connectors when fitting the aerial base.
It could also be that the system doesn't know where it is anymore (often happens when the aerial has been disconnected for a period) and it may take 20 minutes or more to lock onto the satellites. At this point the GPS icon should turn green, and everything should be ok.
-
Where did you get the new aerial base from, I did this as the base looked the same came off another elite (dti) but was not fitted with the GPS part in it, how many wires come out of the new base, I now use a £5 connection on the dash that The boy told me would work and it does just fine. I have got hold of another base now just have to fit it. I was getting the same message as you
-
I supplied the base John. It's slightly different from the one I supplied to you, in that it has the older style of connectors. It actually has 4 completely separate wires (3 coax's for radio, sat nav and phone, and 1 pwer wire) and is an exact replacement for the original base. :y
-
So it does not connect into the blue connection like on the 02-03 cars then, still have to fit the one i got off you to the car ::)
-
Is the car were talking about saloon or estate ???
-
No John, no blue connector on this one. I was surprised actually, because Rob's car is a 2001 (Y) and I expected it to have the blue connector as well. :-\
And the car is an estate. :y
-
when i first got this estate and found the Met had chopped the blue connector off :o :( >:( it took me an age to find the correct setup it should have had. Are the connectors on this one brown ???
-
Thanks James ! yes it is an estate and the base was an exact match guess i will have to take the mig for a nice long drive then :D :D :y i have checked all the pins and connections and everything looks in order :y

Have you tried putting the nav into diagnostic mode and seeing if it can see any satellites?
TB posted instructions here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=94765.msg1186794#msg1186794
Press MAIN for 7s, then release. Then press NAV. If you dont get diags, breifly press MAIN again.
Its the first set of numbers - 3/5 means 3 sats in use, 5 visible.
If it says 0/0 after a good drive then there is an aerial/lead/HU problem, if it says 0/5 or similar then there's probably a disc problem.

For reference, I have attached a couple of pictures showing the connectors on this base...

Just like the Met put onto mine but i did not have the sat nav base fitted, had to run another loom to get the correct blue connector back (for 02-03 cars) now i just have to fit the base, but as said i just use a £5 gismo that just plugs into the back of the HU and wire goes up to N/S dash and all works fine
-
Totally agree about the £5 sat nav aerial. I have installed a couple of these now for people, and they work a treat. I really can't see that the aerial is at fault in Rob's case though, as it was previously working prior to his original base being damaged, and since it was a straight swap. :-\
-
Don't think it's at fault, I sent one to a chap in Scotland off the 2.6 elite i had here for parts and he had to give it a talk with Tech2 before he could get it to work and that was a straight swap to. Mine had to have a talk with tech2 when i put the CID in mine OK it was from a saloon to my estate but it went in with it's HU from the other car but TB had to reset it all ??? is it the same with the base i don't know :-\
-
That's a new one on me. :-\
When I upgraded my headunit from a 2013+GID to a 2015+CID+Telematics, I just plugged it all in at it worked straight away. TB did Tech2 the 2015, but that was only to enable Bose.
No doubt someone will be along soon to confirm either way. :y
-
Can't see why tech2 needed...
-
Fitted all sorts of GPS antenna linked to NCDC / R units and never had a problem.

Hi guys have checked all leads james and all is ok there , also did the diagnostics on the sat/nav and first set of figures came up 0/0 so guess its one of the afore mentioned :-\ just a thought but does the actual arial itself have to be different for the sat nav ??? as i didnt have the arial either but just nabbed the one off my old 99 elite estate that didnt have sat nav ? ???
-
also just realised the telematics is having problems too :o i can recieve messages but cant make phone calls !!!!!!!!!!! and yes there is credit on it ;D :y

The satnav aerial is in the base of the aerial on the roof. Obviously, this base needs to be a satnav one
-
Thanks TB thats cleared that up :) so guess its a problem with HU :-\ :(

That could be the problem. The sat nav base is different from a normal non satnav one.

if it is a problem with the h/u what can be done about this if anything :-[ does it need to have a tech2 or something or is the h/u knackered ? any ideas folks :-\ :y

Thought it was decided you had wrong aerial?
-
Sorry Rob, I somehow missed your thread recently.
I think people are getting confused between the aerial base and the aerial mast.
We know for sure that the aerial base is the correct one, but it sounds like you might have the wrong aerial mast. I'm sure that GM list a different aerial mast for estates fitted with GPS and telematics. It might be worth giving Andyc a call and asking him to check the system for you.
-
ok James sorry its probably me miss leading everyone :-[ i will try and get hold of andy c :y
