Hi guys i'm in need of changing the dreaded ABS ECU due to the ABS and TC lights now being on constantly and no speedo!
My question is, I have a DX coded pump, on a 98 2.5 manual car. Does it have to be the same coded set up I fit or will a DY one do the job?
Ta muchly :y

DY would need to be reprogrammed via tech2. ;)
-
Thanks for that Albs. What's the reason for reprogramming it?
-
Dont know the technical detail but they are programmed to work on certain spec cars and wont work unless the spec is changed.
Someone such as The Boy will probably be able to provide more specific info than I could. ;)

OK thanks for that i'll see what other replies i get. :y

just changed mine, bout a 2 hour job, plus many swear words,i was advised by many on the forum that the ecu has to be from the same model and year,
got mine from twiglet, good price and prompt delivery too, hope this helps

Cheers for that. Yea i've heard its a bit of a sod to do but as i dont need the car for work i can take my time and im doing a few other jobs at the same time so will part of the list.
I'd still like anyone who knows to confirm the reasoning behind then being programmed please.

Just did mine....I have a 2.5 and mine came (via Daz) from a 3.0. As long as part number is the same, with re programming , you should be ok.
Small tip...make sure you pull the pink (on mine) clip right out towards the wing, or you will not shift the ECU. Took us a while to suss it :y
You want small hands to get to lower screws. Good help in Maintenance section. :y
