Title: thermostat on v6
Post by: noel on 13 November 2011, 08:36:30
just recently my car seems to take longer to warm up.Even after a run of some 16 miles (town & country) it just reaches 80/85 degrees.
is this the symptons of a thermostat that is stuck open ???  :-\

no necessarily, centre of the gauge is fine. However 15 miles is a tad much, sounds like its a little lazy  :y

that was my thinking.I know that the outside temperatures have dropped just recently, and before my fans used to kick for a pastime but now they dont.
is this likely to cause ant problems running it like this till i get time to look at it. :-\

It was a little colder this morning, mine was nice and hot within a mile or two.

Its not going to cause any serious problems, but you want to get it seen to within a couple of weeks  :y

A V6 should be at approx midpoint on the gauage (so around 95C for prefacelifts and 90C for facelifts) within about 2 miles of gentle driving, even on cold mornings.  If not, or you see the temp is much cooler on a 60mph cruise than it is around town, then stat is favourite :y
