I have a very very slight tick from one of the lifters, so trying to weigh up whether this stuff with do more harm than good. Must admit I have never been a great fan of adding things to the oil.

Just stuck a bottle in my 3.2, as I have some noisey lifters. (car was previously stood for a year)

It did not make any difference after 75 mile 80mph+ blast, so hoping over course of 2,000 miles it will  :-\

...exhaust might be blowing...? Sometimes mistaken for litters...?

Re wynns lifter treatment, I find is excellent stuff. IMO change the oil, then again in a couple of hundred miles with lifter treatment added for the duration until the next oil change at anything up to 5k later. Give it a chance to work fully.

Recommended.

Fattie suggested it too, we both agreed though it was lifter related in the end.

Stop after high speed run, when the oil is super hot, the sound is quite noticeable (as you heard other day) - Leave it at idle for say 2-3 mins, it goes to what a DBW V6 should sound like. I am assuming the oil cools a little & is a little bit thicker  :-\

Also on a cold start, sounds great.

does sound like a lazy lifter... Leave the wynns in long term. Pick up proved to be clear. So might be worth an oil pressure test maybe...? To be safe...?

Maybe, although not having heard how severe it is makes it hard to say. Are we talking about one or two lifters or the whole lot clattering away?

There's a possibility that the pressure relief valve is not closing fully and allowing oil pressure to drop off at idle when the oil is hot. Does the rattle go when the engine is held at a fast idle?

You need to get an oil pressure gauge on it to know for sure. I recall the rusty bullet was doing exactly this after the completely dead lifters had been changed following the original "project gravel". It may be a case of TADTS and we were looking for a problem, though? Oil pressure will always be lowest when the oil is stinking hot and the engine is idling. Maybe that is enough to cause high mileage engines to rattle a little? I'm sure the silver buyllet has been given a thorough "testing" since then so, as it hasn't put a rod through the block...

Worth trying the lifter treatment first, IMHO.

Thanks Kevin, lifter treatment is in. This weekend should get a couple of hundred miles under its belt so shall see.

I'll give that test a go, I've only left it on idle, so about 800-900 revs be about right?

Don't suppose you have an oil pressure tester do you?

Aside from that, performance is good, economy is good as it general running. I only really noticed it when cleaning up break discs, by doing high speed breaking, then getting out to check the discs. If I'd not done this perhaps not noticed it, as you cannot hear it within car.

I can't help being too short for my weight  >:(. Stop being fattist  >:(.  Its that GayBoy and his friends, they keep forcing curry and beer down my neck :P

Wynns - yes, I have used it before, with some success, some no success, and the Silver Bullet, post "Project Gravel in TB's Engine", partial success (rattles when cold, quiet (as a 181k engine with Valek LPG Injectors can be) when hot.

Yeah, took couple of k to calm down.  Even now, its still rattly cold, but soon calms down.

I should consider 24 known good lifters, but I don't believe its much of an issue given my anal thing about warming up and cooling down before being to hard with it :P

The lifter treatment worked for me.my Omega was stood for several months before I took charge of it and was quite clicky until I added a can of wynns.
