Title: Engine Temp changing when Climate On
Post by: richardirv on 18 November 2011, 16:15:36
I have had this for a while but thought it was normal until Elite Pete pointed out it was not normal on my recent visit.  :y

Basically the engine will warm up too normal operating temp (around 90 degrees). If I turn on the climate regardless of if the car is moving or not the engine temp drops to below 80 degrees, on a motorway it drops even lower, worrying low.

Pete said it is probably the thermostat but to check on here before doing anything.

I'm assuming its not doing any real damage but will be causing the engine to run rich and use more fuel?

I have found that using the ECO button which turns off the AC & Dehumidifier the temp goes back up to normal.

So the question is, does it sound like the thermostat?  :(

Thermostat was my feeling before I read the word.

Ljays old car did exactly the same till I changed the stat :y

Sounds like it... Same issue I have on mine, although mine runs a little warmer and isn't consistent in when it does it ::)

Aye, stat, I'd change it.
