Title: car reving on its own
Post by: downsmen on 18 November 2011, 18:54:41
Hi after replacing the oil cooler due to a leak, the car does not run smoothly anymore. :'(
when you start it up it runs between 600 to 1500 rpm and keeps like this even whist driving almost like the throttle is sticking.
Any Ideas
Many Thanks

Have you re-assemble the throttle cable correctly? Assuming you have the 2.5 or the 3.0 :-\

With the engine running, spray around the vac pipes/plenum LIGHTLY with carb cleaner, if the engine note changes the carb cleaner has been sucked in and burned as unmetered fuel ... you have just found the vac leak !!

Rectify, check again, once happy wipe down with paper towel.

Result : fixed vac leaks and a nice clean engine :)
