Title: exhaust manifold heat shield

How important is it to have an exhaust manifold heat shield? Mine fell apart so havnt got one  :'(

I would recommend getting another one - and post a wanted ad. Alot of heat comes from that are and you don't want it going directly into the engine area where it could potentially melt some wires.

I don't have the knowledge to say to you it will be ok without the heat shield so i am going purely from a commonsense point of view.

There isn't much there. Few guys on here have taken there's off due to it falling apart, me included. :)

There is a lot of space in the engine bay with the 4 pots, so could get away without it, but GM did put it there for a reason. I'd source one from a breaker here, might always be worth a call to dealer, just to see what cost would be on trade  :y

I got one for wife's old corsa a couple of years ago and it was about £18 i think. This gives you a rough guide i hope.
