Title: Anyone Else Had An e-mail From HMRC
Post by: waspy on 19 November 2011, 20:43:47
According to an e-mail from HMRC???? I have a refund due. I believe to be a scam email, because I don't think HMRC woukd have my e-mail address & surely they'd send me a letter!!!!
I've hovered over the sender & it's from payments @hmrc.gov.uk.
I've viewed the message source, but I don't see anything untoward  :-\ :-\
Anyone else had a e-mail from them?

Sounds like a scam - normally all hmrc correspondence is done by letter. People can play tricks with the message source from what i have read about emails purportedley from your bank etc..

Yep, and I'm waiting for the £3750 for the accident I recently had. :y

Can't remember having had one, mind you, but according to the text I got there are records to show that it happened. I must be getting forgetful in my old age.  ::) ::)

 ;D ;D Nice one Debs ;D ;D

The e-mail is exactly like the one in Nickbat's post, but there's no link to click in the e-mail i've been sent :-\

I'm always very cautious of these e-mails & your replies have confirmed my suspicions  :y :y

is OK, just ignore it.

The taxman doesn't do emails.
The taxman doesn't do letters that make any sense.
The taxman doesn't use sensible accounts like profit and loss, he uses systems that no one has heard of so we all get it wrong so he can fine us.
The taxman doesn't always answer letters.
The taxman will not pay back over payments without being asked at least 3 times.
The taxman's software has had basic mistakes in from the beginning.
Etc

The staff are OK, but they are forced to work with a horrible system that doesn't work for normal people. I got an error message last year that said " ERROR you have filled your accounts in PDF format but have not ticked the box marked PDF." Well if it knows what format my accounts are in why do I need to tell it ?
