hi, i'm getting concerned about the running costs of my omega 2 litre, its drinking more than me lol, £20 worth of juice is getting me about 65 miles! if i use car all week its costing £50 in petrol i only live 16 miles away from work, i was wanting to put me zxr 750 away for winter but i'm running it still as cannot keep chucking me money in the tank of car, am i getting crap MPG or am i just realising how much fuel has gone up recently?? does anyone have any ideas or is this something that needs sorting by garage??
-
Thats what I get mate although I have a 2.6, 95% of my driving is round town but I love my Omega, couldnt bear to go back to a smaller car.
-
Around town my 2.5 gets around 22 ish but on average im getting 28 - 30 driving carefully with a mix of town and motorways.
-
hi ya,
i got a 2.5 v6.
i'm currently doing a real world experiment (ignoring what trip computer says). i filled up from absolute empty. cost £78 something.
i reset the mileage button on the dash and am seeing what i get when i run her out of juice. for this test i'm driving like an eco freak i.e. no extra weight, revs staying around 1200 or lower and uphill not exceeding 2000, little braking etc etc
so far its looking like around 16mpg for town driving :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
venture on tut motorway though and it's quite economical.
hope that helps.
-
ps i should add i'm due a full service..............whethert that makes any diff???
-
Getting just around 20 mpg around town with my 2.2 cdx estate on the computer. :o
Dont do what I did. Reset mpg reading when expecting to be doing under 5m per day for a week ... 16mpg :'( :'(
Sooooo glad I am on LPG 8)
Hope you knew what you were getting into when you bought one of these. Not a town car, cruiser (and for towing).

A good service should bring your mpg up. Mine costs £90 to fill from empty although there is never more than 20 quid in it.

sort of, i've only been driving six years, had a tigra, a vectra and now the mig, its been a pig to own, bonnet's up to often for my liking, no heater and cylinder head gasket blown twice in 18 months of ownership :( but its a nice car to drive, until an amber lights on the dash
-
My 3.0 does 17 average around town but all migs are fairly thirsty anyway.
Still wouldn't swap it though......... ;)
-
If fuel consumption is a major issue......don't buy a mig ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
If you want luxury, comfort & good all round solid car....then its the one you want :y

My commute is 25 miles each way, consisting of a mix of congested town, stop&go dual carriageway and about 5 miles of motorway (where I can get to 70mph). I do a little bit of running about at weekends.
I get between 30 - 32 mpg from my 2.2 Auto, which I don't think is too bad at all.

Pah thats not empty, loads left! Unless you were paying £1.04 a litre ;)

I've been doing some mixed runs since getting the 3.2.
Drove back from High Wycombe, foggy, traffic not going much above 70mph anyway, so stuck cruise on at 60mph. Got the following:

Reset the trips, went to visit a mate in Chipping Norton, good blast of country roads:

Then "normal" driving & what I usually get:

So really it does all depend on your driving style :)

65 Miles from 20 quid!! from a 2.0, thats not right, thats about 20 mpg, I get around 27mpg from my 3.0 MV6 peddling around London, would expect a 2.0 Auto around 27mpg and Manual 30 mpg around town.
:y
-
25 mpg (petrol) around town in a 3ltr manual
22 ish on lpg :y
Thats with a boot full of cable and tools.
Me thinks you have a problem there ;)
-
Maybe I need to shorten my right leg, or put a brick under the pedal so I can't get it as far down.. ;D

I've got a clean licence too ;D ;D
Trouble is, I don't get much more then 25 mpg out of town / motorway ;D ;D
I did Skegness back to Hull in 1 hour 9 minutes last month ;D
Thats with 3 adults, all our caravaning gear on the back seat and a big german shepperd in the boot ;D
Swmbo was not amused ::) ;D ;D

I checked the trip computer when I got home - over the last 333 gallons of fuel (according to it), I've averaged 23.8mpg - most of my driving is urban/extra urban (cross country run to work on fairly congested country roads) with a monthly ~120 mile motorway trip.
Not too bad, I suppose.
-
Tunnie, you clearly are not trying hard enough. TBE has returned 15mpg on the last 3 tankfuls, I'll let you know about the 4th tankful tomorrow, as that needs filling. I'm expecting 15mpg from that as well ::)

as i think most will testify on here, when shit goes wrong, it all goes wrong. you hate the bloody thing and wonderd why you'd bought a crap car with stupidly bad fuel consumption........................
then...........................
it all comes together and omega ownership is a joy. imo :y
-
Sounds like 65miles until the light comes on, so more like 90 miles for £20. I get between 100 and 130 miles from £30 (£135.9 pl) in my 3.2, and that's mostly stop/start short journeys. Can get from Horsham to Gatwick and back with the light on (26 miles round trip using M23) ::) :-X
Just to add, managed to make £40 do 185 miles today. :y

Well, you know I said I'd lost my mojo... ...clearly I have, as managed 16.8mpg for last tankful :)
Just call me Miss Daisy

Be interesting to see what I get when TheChav is gassed :)
